"A two footed tackle made from a short distance away, does not always pose a danger to an opponent, because the ball itself acts as a natural cushion between the players but when the 'two footed' tackle is made from some distance in an uncontrolled manner when attempting to make contact with the ball (or not) - certainly entails a large element of danger to the opponent and that players who use excessive force to make two footed tackles should be sent-off"
Not that I'm suggesting for a moment that Kompany committed a 2 footed tackle, but even if his challenge was defined as such, the guidelines above would suggest he should have escaped punishment from the referee x

He should be banned for 8 games,
and then a further 8 on top of that

Don't be a troglodyte.
No true fan of football would claim that.
Only a coward who wanted every advantage possible for the team that although he supports, doesn't really believe they are capable of competing fairly x

'troglodyte'
harsh

I think that is part of the problem here, in that I keep seeing people put "two footed tackle, he should be off". For me, it simply wasn't a two footed tackle, Si anything else is moot.

I don't think it's the 2 footed aspect though, it's the not being in control part

Then you've clearly not watched much football, let alone the challenge in question x

I think that the red card was harsh. That said, he should have been sent off against Norwich in my opinion. Will be interesting to see if it is rescinded, but I suspect that the FA will uphold it because he got away with the one against Norwich.

I said in the other thread it was harsh, but by the rules of the game if Dean deemed him not to be in control he has the authority to send him off

whether it is one or two footed isn't that important, it is whether you endanger the opponent either willfully or recklessly. That said in my opinion it wasn't a red.

If Arsenal still had 11 on the pitch VK doesn't get sent off. Never a red card. To be honest, I'm not even sure it was a foul.
