For goodness sake another Midfielder

Robbo has done it again, brought in another midfielder.

So the squad is:

1 GoalKeeper
7 Defenders
11 Midfielders
3 Strikers

So there are as many midfielders as there are as the rest of the squad!

No wonder they have such impressive possession figures but have picked up just 11 points out of a possible 30 against the other Top 10 clubs,

We have Lowe, Smith, and Mcloud, but could also play Bowditch and Powell up front if needed.
Bowditch has always been an out and out striker till he came here, I feel Powell would do a good job, as he can run at defenders, can score goals and is very unpredictable.
What we are missing is a tall forward who can score headed goals.
Ok Robbo likes to play football on the ground, but as it has been proved in games you CANT play that way against every team.
I feel that this puts us at a big dissadvantage on our corners, and explains why so many come to nothing.
Also I would be interested to see how many headers have been scored against us, Midson was one.
A big target man can cause a lot of trouble as we have found to our cost numerous times.

As we have lost two of our most influential midfield players ive no problem with replacing them. As already said Powell and Bowditch are equally comfortable up front. In Robbo we trust COYD

You can't have enough midfielders, especially as we play like Barca.

To be fair having a squad that is 50% midfielders does make sense when you play 4-2-3-1. Excluding the goalkeeper, half the players you have on the field are indeed midfielders.

The question is "Is he a defensive or attacking midfielder?" We require an attacking one we have too many defensive ones. Powell, Bowditch and Smith are not midfielders and never will be.

Dondondondon. but the 4-2-3-1 includes both strikers and midfileders in the 2-3-1 (more in the 3-1 obviously).

It is also reliant on the 1 being an out and out goal scorer, which the Dons have been missing for a season and a half (at least).

If you look at the possession in the previous few games the only game where the Dons had less than 50% was against Notts County (and they won).

They will not miss out on promotion because the midfield lose possession, but the fact there isn't anyone who can regularly turn possession into goals will.

We've lost two ineffective strikers, replaced them with an inconsistent one, a risk worth taking as we play one up front, and have two or three players who can play up front too if needed. Midfielders are a help, wedon't have as many as you think when you consider we lost Chadders, Gleeson and Jay.
