What happened to Bryce McGain?

He went to the outback and was eaten by a very large snake.

i was wondering if say an aussie spinner was brought up in more spinner friendly conditions (india) would they have more success? Is it mainly down to the climate and pitches in aus that are stunting their growth and ability? Or are they just not good enough?
I mean didn't warne not have a great sheff shield record?

In the years of old, we had Sydney, Melbourne and at times Brisbane which would suit spin........now-a-days these pitches are more quick friendly I feel.
So a stint in the sub-con would do every up-coming spinner the world of good.
As for comparison to Warne.....I don't think it's fair we compare youngsters with champions.

would it be worth an aussie spinner perhaps moving to a test team for a while in the english counties or in the sub-continent as you suggested?
Or would (like in other sports) their chances of getting selected fall if they leave the country?

You will find there are quite a few Aussie fringe players playing county cricket as they have in the past. Unfortunately with so much money on offer these days to play 20/20 etc. the better players don't want to further their ability by playing county and go for the money (can't really blame them)

I am not a fan at all of 20/20 as for me it is taking the heart out of the game, but its the world we live in, money talks.
Imo its a sad state of affairs but it is helping the sport grow, even if it is for the wrong reasons.

I believe we have seen the last of the true so-called opening batsman because of this 20/20 rubbish...besides the bloody run outs we now see in test cricket.....5 days you fools, not 5 p.m...

I gotta agree, 20/20 is rubbish. You got to look at the crowds for test cricket. They have dwindled due to the hoik cricket..
And to be fair England had no one before swann.we tried everyone even min patel at one stage.. giles was ok but pretty poor record.
You really need to be a special spin bowler to succeed at test level..
last 20 years..Warne,murali Kumble..When you got 3 seamers one can have a bad day and the other 2 can come good, Spinners dont get that luxory

haha potential blog worthy material here? Not exactly new stuff but imo 20/20 is killing the sport!
