WOW!! This breaking news is huge..

Australian sport has been rocked by a bombshell report from the Crime Commission.

ILLEGAL drugs are widespread throughout Australian sport and are being facilitated by sports scientists, high-level coaches and sports staff, a 12-month investigation by the Australian Crime Commission has found.

Organised crime groups are also involved in the frequent practice which, in some cases, see players administered with substances not yet approved for human use.

The ACC also found evidence of "concerning" personal relationships between professional athletes and crime identities and groups that may have resulted in match fixing and the fraudulent manipulation of betting markets.

Justice Minister Jason Clare encouraged anyone involved to come forward "before you get a knock at the door''

"The findings are shocking and will disgust Australian sports fans,'' he said.

"It's cheating but it's worse than that.

"It's cheating with the help of criminals''

This will be on-going for weeks, with speculations and inuendo....I personally will be devastated if South's are involved in any way....I find it hard to believe Maguire would have anything to do with this, by the sounds of it, it involves coaches/doctors/chemists....it's an absolute disgrace and a very dark day for Australian sport and I feel for those that are clean that will be tagged alongside those that cheated...

Since as far back as I remember, drugs cheats have always strived to stay one step ahead of the authorities. This 'war on doping' is pretty naive.

There is one sport in Australia that in my opinion has a shambolic drugs testing system, and its not Rugby League.
Expect tough drug testing at this years world cup, and tough if the countries and players don't like it. We in Rugby League needs to make sure as much as possible that our game is drug free.

one thing about rugby league in the uk is that other sports sit up and take notice how hard they deal with drug cheats although the sport gave dwyane chambers a chance even though he was pants at least castleford did not really the sport just a little club

Still nothing as far as names and clubs involved.....plenty of speculaion and the sooner they name & shame these players the better....this great game of ours is getting dragged down into the gutter with inuendos.....none of the drug counciling either, they knew what they were doing....kick the ba----ds out of our game....

Australia joins Spain and Italy atop the mountain which sits the pantheon of doping greats.

Going by reports, and that's all we can go by because ASADA are not releasing much. Certainly no names as yet, because the interviewing process has still got 4-6 weeks left.
Reports are that there could be as many as 31 players in the mix....past and present.

I feel for the Cronulla supporters.
The Sharks have built a good strong team over the last 2-3 years and have given the supporters a real glimmer of hope for 'there first ever premiership.

More importantly though, is to clean up our great game of rugby league and show these dumb individuals that they can't take any substances in order to get fit or respond to treatment quicker then the normal manner.

Unfortunately there are some individuals out there with even less brains then those sort by ASADA who wish to believe every sportsman with-in OZ are on the take....yeah!! sure tuggers, move on..

I repeat that there is another sport in Australia that will not be able to sweep the drug scandel under the carpet like they have a lot of things in the past.
