Sacrifice a win against Everton

for a win against Madrid? Or sacrifice a win against Madrid for a win against Everton?

It's absolutely essential we get a win against Everton. It's no game to be taken lightly and frankly it's absolutely paramount that we win the Premier League this year. I hope we don't play a weakened team in anticipation for the Madrid game. Obviously I hope we can with both

I'm certain we'll be at least 7 points ahead going into that run and we could afford the odd slip up.
To be fair City have Spurs and Everton away, two games that are harder than just the one really tough away game we have (Arsenal).

To be honest I wouldn't be shocked if City drew against Saints tomorrow either.

I hope if by 6pm we're 11+ points ahead of City people might start to believe!

What I mean by that is that 2 hard games are more difficult than just one hard game obviously

I think we'll beat Arsenal, Rob. When do we not?!

Stoke away scares me.

We shouldn't be scared of Stoke away though. Not that i'm saying we'll win but a draw there is hardly a disaster.

We have 13 games left and i'm sure we'll win 10 of them. That'll be enough.

Rob you say things like United can't possibly falter against lesser teams ...then you have City down for a draw at Southampton. If its true for United then its true for City... there is very little between the 2 sides.

You're crazy.

Mate. City have dropped plenty of points against the lesser teams this season. They have drawn 8 games. We have drawn 2.

I don't think City are a bad side but this season they have been very sluggish.

In recent weeks they've drawn at QPR (a side I said they'd draw at), drawn at home to Liverpool (just), lost at Sunderland and were 30 seconds away from drawing at home to Reading.

Southampton are one of the form teams at the moment and drew at Chelsea and pushed United all the way. Seeing how City are playing at the moment and seeing how Saints pushed City all the way back in August I wouldn't be surprised to see a draw or even a loss for City.

You seem to think that City will magically come good but every sign this season suggests the opposite.

We'll keep on winning with the odd slip up while City will draw quite a few of their games. Just wait and see how it goes down.

I think it has now been shown that the Real CL tie is by far the tougher proposition than Everton at home.

I'm still perplexed that so many people think we should be prioritising home league ties over and above a CL knockout against one of the favourites to win the competition.

If we lose such a commanding lead in the PL then we don't deserve to win it. I believe City have the tougher remaining fixtures and their form is nowhere near as good as ours either.

I'm 100% with Rob on this one.

I agree with that, but giving that lead away putting weakened sides out would be a stupid thing to do also.

As Fergie always says the League is the priority

No, that's a bit pedantic imo.

If he played a weakened side regularly then that would be stupid. But it would be folly not to when we have a CL knock out tie 3 days later and a 9 point gap in the league with a game in hand!!

FFS if you can't rest players when you have such a commanding lead and you are playing at home ahead of a CL tie away in Madrid, then when the feck can you?

What is the point of havinmg such a large squad of internationals if, according to you, we should field the same/strongest 11 every week?

What do you think would have happened if we had fielded a weakened team in Madrid? I think we almost certainly would have lost, probably badly. And then there would have been an outcry over fielding a weakened team!

Fergie said last year our poor form in Europe was down to him not picking strong enough sides - specifically picking too many inexperienced players. And our poor showing was against teams nowhere near as good as Real Madrid. Could you honestly see him making the same mistakes again?
