Nervous.

Thinking back to when the draw was made, I seem to recall feeling uneasy at the prospect of facing Ronaldo and co.

My confidence was fairly low, and as a natural pessimist, I had decided that qualification would be a huge bonus.

But since then, we've been playing well; injuries are clearing up, we're scoring goals and we're flying in the PL.

Now, the week of the game arrives and I find myself daring to dream the impossible dream.

And that makes me nervous.

Come on United. A big performance tonight could make all the difference across the two legs.

COME ON!

The nervous excitement is building in me already, I could quite easily just start bouncing around the room right now....

I am not hugely confident but not hugely worried either, I see two top teams with not a huge difference between them in terms of ability. I may be tempted to give Real the nod in terms of individual ability but then I would have to give it to United on team spirit....

Think tonight's game and the tie overall will be decided on a goal either way...

I'm always nervous listening/watching a game that I'm not at. When I'm at Old Trafford I'm just excited and never nervous. Listening to a game on the radio scares the hell out of me!

Real are being portrayed as a one man team, Ronaldo, which they are patently not. They have a very fine team, and in any other league would be streaking away with their domestic title, I will be surprised if they do not beat a good United team, but not exceptional with a bit to spare.

In any other league that doesn't contain Barcelona and... errm... Atletico Madrid...

Sandy, you'd be surprised how dependent we became on the other Ronaldo just a few months after he'd joined, despite having the likes of Zidane, Figo, Raul et al in the side. It was pretty hard to explain.

Saying we're a one man team is pushing it a bit, we've got plenty of players who can make things happen, but our results over the past 3 years have been notably worse when he's been out. When you have a player of that calibre in your side it's inevitable for others to rely on him to some extent, so it can show if he doesn't perform. That's one of the reasons I said in my earlier comment that we'll need others to step up to the plate and prove themselves worthy of their billing.

TBF we can;t really say out league form has been that good

Last 4 games were Everton Southampton Fulham and Spurs and don't think we pulled up any trees in any of them.

Twice i went into a Man Utd Barcelona game full of confidence.

Even after the first defeat, the second game served as a chance to correct the mistake, but alas we couldn't.

I think those two games are having an impact on my feelings for this one. Yes its Madrid not Barca, but we all know that very little separates them.

Regardless of how many points apart they are (simply a matter of consistency).

I am looking forward to the match, but have low expectations this time around.

There's also the unknown. I haven't watched Real enough to really know how good they are.

I think our midfield's overrated. I honestly can't see where Alonso's reputation in England for controlling games comes from.
