Alarming

just read this post match quote from Michael Appleton...

"At half time I said to the lads don’t get thumped by five or six. I said let’s make sure we don’t get beat in the second half and we wouldn’t have been had it not been for their 93rd minute goal."

sounds like we basically admitted defeat at half time. One goal and we'd have been right back in it, even if it was fortuitous or against the run of play. Damage limitation is no good in our current situation, we desperately need to win games.

Apologies, just realised that someone else had commented on this at the bottom of another thread.

Its well worth pointing the comments out again SKL. A must win game (if we had any chance of the play-offs), sacrificed at half-time against a club Leicester? I am disappointed and amazed in equal measure.

Many a time I have played in teams losing by two goals and come back and won.

I could semi-understand the comment if we were away at United, down to ten men and losing 2 zip at half-time, or if we were in a relegation scrap and damaging fragile morale could prove very costly.

Other than those instances his comments are very shoddy and I feel sorry for the travelling fans many of whom have said it was the worst performance many had ever seen from our club. Which takes some doing if you think of Spurs away, Wigan away, Bolton at home, Hull away and others in recent memory.

I am seriously concerned for our future.

the part where he said "let’s make sure we don’t get beat in the second half and we wouldn’t have been had it not been for their 93rd minute goal" is scarily Kean-esque.

I was there last night as I live fairly near by, and I wish I hadn't. The "performance" was abysmal.

First half we spent passing it back to Kean for him to hoof it up so we lost possession, second half we had most of the possession but did squat with it,

Murphy was the worst player on the pitch, and personally I'd have put Bentley in the middle, put Pedersen on the right and Olsson on the left and gone from there. Rekik spent most of his short spell on the pitch in the wrong position, leaving our left hand side exposed time after time.

Campbell can not work with Rhodes, especially when we're hoofing it all game either.

It was just so, so bad.

Hope that sort of form continues this coming Saturday.

The Euphoria following the Arsenal win has all gone now. Maybe a loss in that game and a few more points would have been better. But hey if we win the FA cup then it is not all bad. Who is left in it now......oh dear.

The problem with Rovers is we have been very badly Managed over the last 2 years and we don't have any good Midfielders ,Wingers. I hope Appleton is given some time to build his team before we start having a go at him

I'd have swapped the win at Arsenal for 3 points in the league at the drop of a hat.

So would I SKL

Loved beating Arsenal but i think it has just papered over the (very obvious) cracks in the team and Blackburn Rovers as a whole.

If we lose Rhodes in the summer, then well, I can't see us moving upwards anytime soon. Down is where we will be looking.

I don't think 3 pts more in the league will make much difference come end of the season we are an average championship team promotion is not going to happen
