basically feigning injury he may have been given a yellow instead of the red.
After all it gave the ref more time to consult with all his officials and have a couple of Real Madrid players influencing him.Immediately after the tackle was made it didn't seem obvious the the ref was looking for his red card, but after Nani's play acting he had no hesitation.Could the play acting have swayed the ref that Nani was feigning injury to avoid a red card as he obviously has come across players doing this in the past.
To me it was not a red card and should never have been
Do you think if Nani had not stayed down

How would Nani pretending to be injured give us an advantage when the ref had already blow for a Madrid free kick?

"Pretending to be hurt often reduces a red card offence to a yellow, or a yellow to simply a freekick. Plenty of players have done it before. Good to see the ref cracking down on it."

that explains everything about you, ttliv87.
ps you keep spouting on about a disallowed goal for RM. Check it out again and come back to me when you engage your brain cells to realise that Higuain was about two yards off-side when the ball was headed down to him by Ramos (who was pulled up for climbing all over RVP)

Tbf, it would seem the linesman had a big impact on the refs decision, so he may have given a yellow having had less time to think about it.

I dont think it influenced the Referee`s decision, he did his job and followed the rules, and correctly sent Nani off.
Nani feigning injury was just a reaction to knowing he was in trouble, he knew he had made a dangerous tackle and played injured to try and escape punishment, you see it happen all the time with plenty of other players.

@ OP
I also think Nani's reaction contributed to his red card. I think if he had acknowledged and appologised he might have escaped with a yellow
