Bayern Munich flashbacks?

I couldn't have been the only United supporter who felt a strange sense of deja vu last night?

When we played Bayern in 2010 Rafael was sent off and Rooney was injured to the point that he was a passenger, but SAF didn't change anything until Robben scored.

That season Barca were eliminated by Inter, Madrid were kncoked out in the previous round and we had the chance to see off Bayern to potentially set up a semi-final tie with Lyon, we of course missed the chance.

Last night why did it take so long for SAF to react to the red? he made the first change 15 minutes after the Modric goal. I desperately wanted him to bring on Evans and go 5-3-1, like City did against us in the FA Cup last season.

Just trying to outscore them with 10 men wasn't going to happen and we could have been smarter with out tactics AFTER the red, this fact disappoints me more than the sending-off.

On the plus side we're going to win the league and may have a chance at a domestic double which isn't to bad is it?

If our strikers could finist last night we could have scored 3 or 4 goals in the final 15 minutes. Plus the penalty we should have had when Ramos took out evra. The tactics were fine

I remember that Munich game well. We were doing so well and then the whole atmosphere seemed to change, coincidentally at the same time as a fog started to settle on the stadium, at about the time when it looked like Rooney was not up to it. The fog got thicker, we fell right back and seemed to be hoping that we would be able to prevent them from scoring and as the gloom really set in, we lost the match.

Madrid scored the second and sat back because they knew the job was more or less done, we didn't out manoeuvre them tactically.

I'm not one to whine about decisions, Madrid had a perfectly good goal ruled out in the first half which would have changed the game and Rafa could have been sent off, swings and roundabouts.

Sir Bubbly its better then losing a final. This could be like 2010 champions league were a crap team wins it like inter milan mourinho side or chelsea 2012 side or real madrid in 2013.

Now that we're out i'd love for Dortmund to win it, they're unbeaten so far and as we all know they play brilliant football

Yeah definitely similar feelings to the Bayern game. In both games I had hope we would see it out after the red card, but deep down knew it was going to be too much. Both games needed shots from outside the box to score as well.

I would imagine Kagawa will feel a bit miffed if they do, lol

As unlikely as it sounds, I'd love to see Ronaldo V Beckham at Wembley!!

Rafa was rash.
