England XI

Why is there soo much fuss on Rio? Give it a rest!!
Anyways if we want any chance of winning the World Cup we must play this team in Brazil:
----------------Hart---------------
Jenkinson--- Jagielka--Jones---Baines
-------------------Carrick--------------------
-----------Wilshere---Gerrard-------------
---Ox --------------------------------- Welbeck--
------------------Sturridge------------------

These are 11 hard working men! Likes of Rooney and Theo do not deserve to play as they do not have enough passion (Non-bias view, Arsenal fan)!

As for subs- Foster, Richards, Caulker, Cleverley, Theo, Rooney, Defoe, Milner, Zaha, Rodwell etc

If the tournament was tomorrow, and all our players were fit, then this would be what would happen.

We should go 433, but we'd go 4411.

Hart is nailed on. But he shouldn't be. He should be benched for Foster, who's looked quality this season and no one could possibly dispute that based on form.

Gerrard would sit in midfield with Wilshere, when honestly, as good as he has been, a 3 man midfield without him would offer more than a 2 or 3 man one with him at this point. Quality quality player, but not a player suited to international football. Midfield should be Cleverley Carrick Wilshere. United are 15 points clear, and Clevs and Carrick have been the midfield, so they have to play. No brainer. And Wilshere would excel in a 3 man CM at international level.

Rooney would be the first name on the term sheet. Although I think he should start, it isn't as clear cut as you'd expect. He's been well below what he's capable of this season. Though productive as ever, he's looked a weak point offensively for United at times, and you get the feeling that if his touch and short, quick passing was to the standard it has been in the past, he could well have double the goals and assists he does so far. Sturridge and Defoe would not be far behind Wayne in the pecking order if I were in charge. Again, as it is he'll be in the hole in the 4411, when he should be alternating between the central and wide left positions in a front 3 with Welbeck.

Out wide would be Walcott and Young, but Young shouldn't start as he's not been fit for a lot of the season and in an out of the United side when he has been fit. Bench him and play an extra man in CM to allow the Cleverley-(holder)-Wilshere passing center to have its opportunity. Walcott has shown this season that he can be a very dangerous and productive player, and the right wing spot should be his, but I'd still like to see him play as a right wing forward and be between the center backs and left back of the opposition. We'd also operate with a traditional no.9 and that would be Welbeck, as he's looked a very good striker for England in the past. Really, if we're to play a no.9, then it has to be Defoe. He's a proper goal scorer and though Welbeck is the better player, he hasn't been used there much this season.

So yeah, the team WOULD be

Hart
Johnson Smalling Jagielka Cole
Gerrard Wilshere
Walcott Rooney Young
Welbeck

When it SHOULD be

Foster
Johnson Smalling Cahill Baines
Cleverley Carrick Wilshere
Walcott Rooney Welbeck

Cleverley and Welbeck should be no where near the team. I dont care who they play for. That is the media talk. No one outside the top teams can play for england etc.

What does cleverley offer on a football pitch? nothing. can he play a defense slitting pass? no. can he track back and put in a great tackle no? can he score? no. Can he pass sideways for 90 minutes? yes.

What does welbeck offer? nothing. Cant score, can barely pass. Works hard and can hold the ball up. that is all.

Welbeck is brilliant at missing chances, to be fair to him.

Cleverley and Welbeck are major factors in United being 15 points clear. England's future should be built around them if we're ever going to accomplish anything at international level.

Honestly, the Arsenal fans on this website are total embarrassments. They'll only be satisfied when the England team is

???
Jenkinson-???-???-Gibbs
Wilshere-???
Walcott-???-Chamberlain
???

The only 2 players Arsenal have who should get in to an England squad are Walcott and Wilshere, and neither should be certain starters yet.

Clueless

You seriously think Sir Alex plays them for a laugh?

As an earler post said

England should now be built around Clevs and Wilshere and Rooney and Welbeck
