I am sure this has been discussed before, but do you think an All star tournament after the champions League final of the top 4 ranked leagues (Which will probably be just EPL, La Liga, BL and Serie A) would be a good Idea?
Im talking about the best 22 (2 for each position) players from each of these leagues are selected to the team to represent their League.
The tournament can be:
1. Round Robin Home and Away, Most points win (Each team plays 6 matches in total and a total of 12 games for the tournament)
2. Same as first but top 2 have a final (Each team plays 6(7 for the finalist) matches in total and a total of 13 games for the tournament)
3. One Host nation so no home and away game, most points after all matches win (Each team plays 3 matches in total and a total of 6 games for the tournament)
4. Same as third but top 2 have a final (Each team plays 3(4 for the finalist) matches in total and a total of 7 games for the tournament)
5. teams are matched up randomly and winners from both matches play the final and the losers have a third/fourth playoff (Each team plays 2 matches in total and a total of 4 games for the tournament)
The Fifth option has the least number of games for a team thus it wont take long.
Fans will Select 11 players from their league (one from each position) and Sports journalist will select the other 11.
The matches can be done for Charity, All proceeds will go to a major Charity (WHO, Unicef, WWF and the likes) or distributed around a few charities.
Do you think this is a possibility?

All Star Games

Don't think it would be possible. International championships every two years for one. Liabilities for injured players. Would probably end up being glorified friendlies with player unaccustomed to each other.
In the us they have these all star games. Basketball is just a practice game really with all offense and no defense. Baseball is disjointed and uncompetitive. American football tends to have most of the better players pull out with injuries, or not participating if they were at the Super Bowl and no real physical contact as everyone just treats it like a vacation

The clubs wouldn't let it happen.
I have thought before that the Community Shield should be League Champions v the best XI of the rest, but came to the same conclusion.

But that is still clubs being Narrow minded Coz this will raise the fan interest which will lead to greater revenue, the games are far more international thus a lot of people would watch that its like Champions league final on Steroids

For a club like Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barca etc it is very much more worthwhile and profitable if they went on their own little tours to Aisa, US etc.

I agree with dj. I can't see there being a lot of interest and clubs are better off going on a lucrative overseas trip where they can increase fan base and have a decent preseason

I think interest Is there, from the fan side and probably the players themselves, however in terms of lucrative deals an all star game will lead to greater exposure of all but United as we already have the largest fan base and are known by almost anyone who knows football.
Besides im not saying scrap preseason tours im saying a week after the Champions league game just host some for of small all start shindig option 5 has the least number of games u can play the first matches on a Tuesday and Wednesday then the ranking games on Saturday and Sunday just 4 games

I actually think these qualifiers should be done in a month long mini tournament at the end of the season and we should do away with international breaks all together. so the end of every season would have either the world cup or European Championship finals or in alternating years a mini tournament to qualify for the following years finals. The qualifying groups would be exactly as they are now but just played all at once rather than spread over 18 months.
The season could then start a little later or finish a little earlier to compensate and there would be no need for these meaningless friendlies.
as this benefits the clubs and its the clubs who hold the power, this could be a runner.

Too many league an cup games as it is...players need a break as well as the fans.Top echelon doesn`t need more exposure, it already has total fan support!
True the meaningless friendlies are unecessary time wasters, but that's the way the ball bounces. In short: Can't see it hppening.

remember in an all star game probably they will use friendly rules i.e. 6 subs and as its a 22 man team chances are most players will play limited minutes anyway
