Does this make sense to anyone?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21922979

20 year old Matej Vydra wins the Championship player of the year award. He was also in the running for the Young Player of the Year award which he lost to 21 year old Tom Ince. Ince was also nominated for POTY. So Vydra is the best player in the league should that not also make him the best young player in the league? Or since Tom Ince beat him for YPOTY, surely that makes Ince the best player as well.

I don't get how it works. Is it a fan vote? Are the same people voting? Can they only vote one player for one award, eg, If you pick Tom Ince for YPOTY you cannot pick him for POTY?

It strange.
