World Heavyweight Championship

On other wrestling forums i have read of the need to make the World Heavyweight championship more prestigious again, as its now become pretty much worthless. However i'm not sure if this is possible. As long as the whole roster appear on both Smackdown and Raw then the WWE championship will always be looked at as the more prestigious belt.

Therefore i would like the creative writers to explore the idea of having a unification fight between the WWE champion and the World Heavyweight champion, similiar to the one between Jericho and the Rock after the invasion period, that would result in there being one undisputed champion and the creation of a single belt.

Although the chances of this happening at the moment are pretty slim, i think it would be a good idea considering how badly the World Heavyweight championship is looked at now. How would you guys react to this idea taking place?

They could have a guy like Punk feud with Ziggler for the WHC and make it more important as the matches between the two would also be phenomenal.

wwe have killied off the relevance of all other belts like cruiser, IC and US and even tag titles.

look at mania!

I think they have the two and they will probably maintain but realistically the PPVs don't need two title matches even

Would love to see the cruiserweight title return, with guys like Rollins, Neville from NXT, sin cara, would be awesome.

I actually think that the recent title runs of Sheamus, Del Rio and now....you know who has gave the title a hell of a lot of credibility.

It may not get the top billing but for me it'll always be full of prestige - maybe that's because i'm aware of its illustrious history

I'm a big believer in this idea not only being necessary but fundamental to the companies future structure. The two world championships appeal was directly tied into the brand split - as soon as the brand split lost it's edge so did the secondary world championship, that being the WHC once the Cena-Batista era emerged.

I mentioned this on a previous article, mentality the existence of the WHC in WWE has degraded all it's singles titles to the tier just below it's station - with the only title above it, the wwe title, being immuine....... the WHC is basically the IC title representative. All the WHC holders of the last 2/3 years have felt very much like the companies alpha second class citizen, especially guys like Sheamus, ADR and Ziggler who feel more like strong mid-card champions with it - guys you invest in for the future as opposed to the present.

And the IC and US championships have descended down to the European Title level, where all their holders furfill one of three criteria, 1) green talent, 2) gimmick reinforcement, 3) spent force. It's a level of title i have no problem with on prinicple but doesn't do justice to the prestige of the titles that are filling this void.

Some type of world title unification match must be on the agenda, just a case of who you give the honour too and when

Ziggler and Barrett as the World Heavyweight and Intercontinental champions gives both titles a bit more credibility. Couldn't believe it when Miz beat Barrett

Cesaro is a good US Champ as well just poorly used really

WHC used to be very prostigous when the likes of Triple H, Batista, Orton etc. had it. It just doesn't suit Smackdown.
