Wolves v Hull City

Wolverhampton Wanderers
• Dean Saunders will want to celebrate 100 days in charge of Wolves with a fourth win in six matches, as his side are now back in the drop zone, two points from safety.
• Saturday's 3-1 home loss to Huddersfield was the sixth time this season that Wanderers had lost a Championship game from a winning position, leaving them in danger of three successive defeats and the possibility of back-to-back relegations.
• After this second-bottom against second-top encounter, Wolves have to go to Charlton, before hosting Burnley and ending the season with a tough trip to Brighton.
• 27-year-old defender Stephen Ward is on the verge of his 200th start for Wolves.
Hull City
• Steve Bruce, who was close to getting the Wolves job following Mick McCarthy's sacking in February 2012, is hoping to steer Hull back to the Premier League after an absence of three seasons.
• The Tigers, six points ahead of third-placed Watford, are vying for a third successive league victory and fourth on the bounce away from home.
• The East Yorkshire club have registered 24 Championship wins in this campaign, 18 of which have been by a single goal.
• After this game come back-to-back matches against relegation-threatened Bristol City (home) and Barnsley (away), and the season ends at the KC Stadium against Cardiff, with what both clubs hope will be a promotion party.
• Robert Koren, who came on to score the winner at Ipswich on Saturday, is hoping to make his 250th start for an English club.

just back from the match (via the pub for a swift pint)

excellent result and 'relatively' comfortable; hull hitting the post second half was maybe their only clear chance and as has been pointed out they didn't manage a shot on target.

good games from doyle, hunt, siggy, doherty and doumbia. showed that in a game where he has a bit of time and space he can look good.

henry and RJ poor as ever and wardy fairly anonymous. can't believe hammill wouldn't be a better option at RM and leave hunty on the left.

good noise from the crowd. we need to support the team like that next home game, regardless of how we do at Charlton.

hull to do us a favour in their next game and win promotion by thrashing Barnsley...

Dross still playing DJ, with the likes of Johnson, Ward and Henry.

Well done lads and who knows, we might still just do it.

Can someone explain why we got Dicko on loan?

Raw pace - something we lack.

Just as an aside; Frank Nouble got two for Ipswich tonight. Their manager (can't remember his name), seems to have a knack of getting the best out of average, mediocre players.

Nouble was never given a chance here, same as many - we prefer to carry on with proven failures.

Next to go will be Batth, but heyho not to worry, we've got Johnson and Gorky.

They're not proven failures under McCarthy Wonky; that's the point that I was trying to make.
Had Mick been in charge of the 'failures' that you allude to; he would have got more out of them and there's no way that we would be fighting relegation from the Championship.

With regards to Batth; maybe he is not as good as 'the hype' that surrounds him. After all, four managers plus their backroom staff haven't seen enough in him to make him a regular in the team, even though we have been losing for a good part of the last few years.

Half agree with you on those points Cyp.

No question at all that we would be much higher up the league if McCarthy was still our manager. Lots of idiots on forums were saying sack Mick and replace him with anyone. Well we have tried three times to get someone better and failed every time.

With regards to Batth he has only this season after a successful loan spell been ready to become a regular player. And Saunders was the one who rightly gave him a chance. And I think everyone that saw him play was amazed that he decided to recall johnson to replace him. No question in my mind that Batth is better than Johnson, and Gorkss as well for that matter. Hopefully we will build the defence around Batth next season no matter what division we are in
