Adjustable Dumbbells

I ordered a set of Selecttech 552s off Amazon a few days ago only to be informed yesterday that the company no longer sells them and I was being refunded

Nobody else on Amazon sells them so I hunted around some other UK sites and found a couple that do. However, I am wary of laying out so much money on a site Ive never used before.

So has anyone bought equipment off a reputable site in the UK? Does anyone know of any stores in the UK that might sell them?

Hope you are all keeping well.

Cheers Dogg, but I really want the Selecttechs. Being a Beachbody program user means in the workouts there is very little time to start changing weights (which I have been doing for the past year). Hence why I want adjustables.

As for your point on the limited weight, after 3 months of cardio due to my elbow injury Im back to basic weights and taking it slow. 52.5lbs per hand seems a far away goal right now.

I also looked at Powerblocks which are also rated highly and CAN be expanded up to 105lbs per hand.

Okay, fair enough

Fitness Superstore is a decent bet in that case

Whats an adjustable dumbell? basically a handle in which you can add whatever weight you want to it?

I think PLAY.com does them

Yeah, if you Google the product he mentions, you'll see what he means. It's a dumbbell holder with an array of different weights that allows you to decide how much weight you wish to use at the turn of a dial.

The other option is simply buying dumbbell bars and spinlocks, and adding your own weight plates on, which is what I do.

Oh those things! They are as cool as anything.

You can get them at Costco (well you can up here)

Yeah, they do seem pretty cool, but I personally prefer the greater scope for long-term weight increases that you can get by buying a bar and adding weight plates when required.

Guess it depends on what you're doing it for. If you're doing more of a cardio based program like 'Beachbody' (I presume) you might need to change quickly

I prefer just going to the gym though personally

I live close enough to it that I have no issue going there whenever I need

They arrived today (all 3 of them bizarrely) and they are even better than I thought they would be. Todays workout (indeed Beachbody - P90X - Chest, Shoulders and Tris) was awesome!

With a degree to study for, no gym in close proximty and two young kids my workout times are not regular and have a need for speed so Beachbody programs are ideal.

I just posted comparison pictures to show my transition from two years ago and got a great reaction so Im happy enough.

NB, Beachbody do cardio programs like Insanity but also P90X which is a nice mix of weights, cardio, yoga and also programs like Body Beast which I plan to start soon.
