Wenger was never strong tactically. Even 10 years ago. He however had an eye for talent and assembled a team so great that the front 6 could just go out and do whatever they want and still come up with results.
The 03/04 unbeaten team massively underachieved. We were beaten by a poor Man United team in the FA Cup semi final, we were beaten by an even worse Chelsea team on our own turf in the CL. We should have won the treble that season and only came away with one trophy. Even the following season we failed to mount a serious title challenge and were lucky to get to penalties in the FA Cup final. Even back in the good days Wenger was a massive underachiever.
