Canaries game

Firstly, what a valuable three points. We can't control other team's results, so it was absolutely vital we did well against Sunderland and Norwich. I was hoping for 4 points in these two matches, so to get the full six and improve our goal difference by six goals, is more more than we could have asked for.

Although we did not play well against Norwich and probably did not have as much possession as we could have, what matters is that we got the points. It is a shame Wigan managed to get a win at WBA, but we have to expect that now. They are specialists at this situation. It looks increasingly like it will go down to the last match now, and that it is more likely that Newcastle and Sunderland will be with us on the final day, hoping to survive.

Gabby Agbonlahor showed us against Norwich, that you need a good blend of experience and youth in your squad. I doubt even Benteke would have showed the composure under pressure to put that last goal away. That goal, with minutes remaining, and a whole club's PL status at stake, was put away on the back of nearly a decade's experience in the top flight.

My big concern, again, is Bennett. He is a massive LIABILITY. He is lucky that Gabby saved his blushes, for he is truly, the worst fullback I have seen at Villa. He gives away silly free kicks. Apparantly, he thinks that wrestling players to the ground on the edge or in the area is ok. His positional sense is almost non existant, and he has to put his hands all over his opponent to make up for them running past him. He could have quite easily have cost us the match, and possibly put us in a very bad situation on the table. Whilst it is not right to blame just him for our season, I just hope he doesn't cost us points in the next two weeks.

I thought Norwich played well. Holt gave our young boys at the back a lesson they won't forget. His physical presence, learnt after years in the rough and tumble of the lower leagues, will hopefully harden a few of our boys up a little.

Here's hoping for a solid showing against Chelsea. Both teams have a lot to play for still and it should be an open, entertaining game.

Wigan, like that annoying little, smelly kid, who wanted to be your friend and wouldn't leave you alone, wants to stay up. They just won't go away. But credit to them. The table is what it is. If they finish in 17th, they deserve to stay up.

Come on VILLA!!!

I was staggered by Bennet's performance. Could have cost us the match, and he was lucky to stay on the pitch. If Clark was fit I think Lambert would be playing Baker at LB. That's possibly the top priority position for a new signing in the summer.

Agreed McParland. When he has the ball he is ok, but when defending, he makes me so nervous. I staggers me how he keeps getting picked. Lichaj must surely be a better option next season. He has proven he can play well at LB. If not, yes, I think that has to be a top priority, although decent left backs are hardly an easy find are they?
