In todays football you need an established manager to take the reigns.
Years ago when Fergie and Wenger took control people did not know what to make of them. Fergie has some credentials with Aberdeen and Wenger has some with Monaco but both where not massive....They both proved everyone wrong.
But in todays football you need big names to attracted big players. I like Moyes but I do not think he will keep Man U in the position they are use to. Maybe in time but will it be enough to appease the Man U fans or the board ?
If Wenger goes we also need an established manager.....
I hope Moyes does well as I respect him as a manager but then again I hope he doesn't due to me being a Gooner......
I am still wondering how Man U let Pep go to Bayern. I was sure he would take over from Fergie.....
Well good luck to whoever does take over Man U.....they are gonna need it....personally I am happy he is gone...but thats more me being an Arsenal fan then not respecting the guy...........
Moyes is not good enough for Man U

Moyes doesn't have to attract anyone to Man Utd, the club does it themselves and with the wages offered it wont be a problem.

He sets his team up to play in a certain way which has been effective this season.
Remember, united dont exactly play the most glamourous footy so I think he will fit in well

Fergie has played a big big part in getting players to come to Utd. He's a big draw especially for the younger British player. A chance to play under a legend. Would Moyes have the same pull?

Well they lost out on Hazard and Moura while Fergie was there.
Although I can't see van Persie joining Utd if Moyes was in charge.

Anyone saying Moyes isn't a big enough name to attract the top players is nothing but a complete idiot. There seems to be a lot of them on here. The club is the name, it attracts the players, just like Barcelona. I don't see Chelsea struggling to attract players even though they change manager every 7-8 months

Money talks these days, so as long as Man utd pay the right amount it shouldn't be a problem. That is why Chelsea can still attract the best players.

What SAF did with Aberdeen and Wenger with Monaco are not on the same level.

Maybe SAF planned on staying beyond this season. And Pep had already been snapped-up by the time Fergie changed his mind.

Yeah, what Wenger did was much more impressive.

I agree with a lot of this article.
However, I think people overplay the manager attracting players to the club. Of course it will have some influence, but it's not the be all and end all.
Look at some of the players Chelsea have signed when having crap managers. Same with Madrid, Inter, Juve, Milan, Bayern, Barca and Liverpool.
Players will want to play for United. He's done so much for us to get us where we are, but the club is a colossus now and players will still want to come here now he's gone.
Tito Vilanova is hardly a big name manager but Barcelona will get whoever they want because they're Barcelona.
