Although I'd love to see Arsenal go out and actually buy top quality players, what makes the upcoming season any different from the other ones?
How many times have we been under the impression that this is the season Wenger will actually buy players, and even more importantly hold on to our best ones?
Just curious to see what Gooners think.
Personally, as depressing as it sounds, I reckon we'll most probably sign maybe Jovetic and one more, and leave it at that.
What Makes Next Season Different From Last

This is no exaggeration, we have to spend in excess of £60m this season for us to be competitive again

60m isn't much, we've spent that kind of money in transfer windows before.
This is probably a bit optimistic but I think we'll break our current transfer record two or three times this summer.

If it means 3 top quality players for £20M then that's fine.
We need to invest in quality. I'm fed up of these mid level players that we sign in the £10-£12m bracket (Santi being an exception). Ok players but not the type of players that will make the real difference

"Did he actually say he's got one more signing to make or did he say we're still looking for players?"
He actually said that. I remember it clearly. Everyone was in shock.
I actually had faith in Wenger back then, and trusted his word.

Can't seem to find it. Was in the same window Man City Robinho in the last minute.
You really can't remember staying awake to see who we signed?

I stay awake for every transfer deadline day.
He might have said we're still in the market for another player, but I doubt he said we'll definitely be signing another player.

I agree absolutely with you Kamran. This season is different. Heard so many journalist who are closer to the club saying that we will spend big and even Mr. Dein expect a big summer spending.
Dont worry we will spend money.

I hope you guys are right, but don't forget the hugely increased optimism we had after last season ended.
