With all this talk about what players we will buy it begs the question as to what we are going to do with the ones we already have.
We have a core of young exciting talent in the first team (Mata,Hazard,Oscar,Luiz,Az,etc.)
At the last count we had 23 players out on loan and nearly all of them young and doing well (Courtois,De Bruyne,Bruma, etc.)
I realise that some are for the future (Wallace,Piazon,Thorgan, etc.) and will not be expecting to be recalled soon
But what about the rest .... could become disheartened ?
We also have young players at the club who are knocking at the door (Christensen,Ake,Loftus-Cheek,etc.)
These players will have expectations
This is undoubtedly a good position to be in but I expect a very busy summer and I fully expect some well-known names to leave the club.
In my view,Terry,Essien,Mikel,Moses,Ba,Marin,Torres are all in the firing line
Also remember that our financial year ends on June 30th ...... so new manager has a busy month ahead of him
So Many Players ..... So Few Places

That doesn't make any difference as the transfer window doesn't open until July 1st.

dont think about this coming season, think about the one after; in all likelyhood that will see Terry, Lampard, Cole and Cech all leaving, and there could be others. which makes this next season absolutely critical not for bringing the youngsters into the team, but finding that one last loan for them, where they can make a statement that cannot be ignored.
weirdly i am less excited about next season than i am about the season after. that for me will be the first season of a new era for Chelsea. as long as a handful of our youngsters can make that step up to be players in a top European club, we could be putting out a lineup with a real Chelsea heart.

Bruma is useless and all the 23 players that were out on loan(maybe bar Essien) needed loans.
De Bruyne is the only loanee that warrants a place in the first.

Could argue Lukaku and Courtois deserves a place as well but it is far more beneficial for them to be loaned out in this upcoming season playing regularly than getting limited time on the pitch at Chelsea.
Lukaku can comeback in 14/15 competing, will be much better equipped and matured.

Same can be said about De Bruyne.
Being in the first team for a team always looking to finish top 4 and playing in the CL in a very competitive league will be invaluable, instead of him coming back and playing a bit part role next year.

We have a lot of midfielders coming through as well. Chalobah, Ake, McEachran, RLC, Baker, Romeu..I like all of them. One of the reasons why I would prefer a midfielder around the age of Alonso/de Rossi if we do bring one in.
We also have a lot of defenders like you said, At the moment we have Wallace, Kane, Hutchinson, Kalas, Omeruo, PVA, and Christensen who's a bit younger. Other than Kane, and I haven't seen Wallace, I also think they're pretty good players, definitely think Kalas and Omeruo are just another year of a loan ready for a place in the squad, if not already readfy.
