Galatasaray give up on Nani

The Galatasaray chairman, Unal Aysal has confirmed this week that the club have now given up on the Portuguese winger after Manchester United turned down their latest offer.

Speaking with Milliyet, Aysal said:

“We offered seven million euros for him, but they didn’t accept. We can’t give more than this. We are not going to follow Nani anymore.

“We can’t give more than seven million euros for him. They want 10 million euros. Because of this he is not on our transfer list anymore."

Firstly, great news they backed out. Hopefully this means Nani could be forced to stay and we can see how Moyes would use him in the team. Secondly, have we got retaarded staff within the club? We're trying to flog him for 10m euro's?! He's easily worth more than that.

I disagree that we cannot compete for the best wingers.

According to many sources we agreed fees for Hazard and Moura, who both opted for ridiculous wages at other clubs.

What other wingers have we been unable to compete for the signings of?

If Man Utd sell Nani, I highly doubt United will compete

We just won the title and Nani did virtually nothing all season. Just like Valencia and Young. I highly doubt that United are going to capitulate if he leaves.

I think that 8.5m for Nani is about right. He is out of favour at the club and has only 1 year left on his contract. Gala don't offer any threat to us domestically and aren't a big player in Europe, so they are a more attractive destination than most teams that Nani might be happy to move to. If it was Chelsea or Arsenal that he was moving to then you would hope for more like 12-14m for him, but as it is Gala, I think 8.5m is about fair.

Sorry to be pedantic here folks but the plural of Euro is euro and not euros

Not even close to fair. It is not enough to bring in a player of his quality and wages for one year. Prorate any deal involving a half decent winger and I bet you it does not come down to 8 million per year.

This again is a clear example of mismanagement of hilarious proportions. players like sinclair are moving for more than we are offering Nani for... It is much better that we keep him on the bench than have him leave for that value. 8 million is not going to get a player like him so what is the point. It would be better to sell Valencia and young for 8 million then pay Nani their wages because unless we are ready to spend 30 million on a winger (something we seem incapable of doing) we are going to be worse.

I do not understand why we cannot either pay players or let them go when we can get back decent money for them. We did the same with berbatov and lost basically 6 million in transfer fees and 5 million in wages for what was basically a glorified bench warmer. Nothing was gained and lost money someone would common sense could have avoided. 11 million lost, that would apparently pay for a 26 year old key portuguese international.

Some of fergies transfer dealings at the end of his time here were just plain hilarious

...assuming this unsubstantiated figure is correct.

Well the year before, the rumoured price was 10 million for berbatov and when he left was 4 million (which was also rumoured) and 5 million in wages is at 100,000 a week, a value which is reasonable and quite possibly on the low side.
