One of the most under rated drivers of the modern era? In his time he has beaten a impressive selection of team mates:
2000: Alesi
2001: Raikkonen
2002: Massa
2004: No reasonable comparison
2005: Webber until injured
2006: No reasonable comparison
2007: Kubica
2009: Kubica
2011: Petrov until dropped
He's never been seen as anything special by the majority but in his time he has put in some steady and deserving drives, more than good enough to still be on the grid I'd say.
So my question is: Is Heidfeld the most under rated driver post 2000, or can you think of a more under rated driver? (answers on a post card )
Nick Heidfeld

I can agree with that. The guy had a HQ list of team-mates and beat most of them. I made the point about Nick in my Webber article, how one guy went on to have the best car for years while the other was ushered out of F1.
Maybe it is because he is dull, I don't know.

must admit before 2011 i always thought NH was fairly good and normally very consistant in race trim but for me was a driver that was never going to make things happen in a race and could be average in qualifying but before 2011 was always worthy of a decent seat -
just from memory so i could be wrong , but i suppose when petrov during 2011 could very often out qualify him and match or beat him in the races at renault you cannot really blame renault for giving him his P45 in favour of senna probably more important to renault was the senna shilling that came with the mediocre senna --

Heidfeld was a steady driver who delivered when he had the tools.
Shame Lotus got rid of him, he would do a much better job than Grosjean
