The man would be able to play for another season at the highest level comfortably if he wanted to. All his ability is still there, just his body is starting to go. If anyone has earned the right to call it a day when they want to though, and go out at the top, it's Paul Scholes. Xavi is right when he says Scholes is out of his league.

Rooney 19 - Admin1 saved my life. They thought I couldn't do it (apart from Barry), now look at me, 12345 is mine, RUINEY WILL NEVER DIE! Join the fight against long usernames, we are the Group Against Your Morbidly Erratic Names! (U1005)

You support them of course you're gonna disagree, i'm a neutral and 99% of neutrals would pick Xavi over Scholes (at their top level).

No, they wouldn't.

Very surprised he didn't sign a year's deal at Oldham as he was quoted years back saying it was his dream to pull on a Latic's shirt and would love a season there.

Even though he's in his late 30's, it's still a tragic waste of talent that he's decided to retire so early.

To add my pennies worth to the above discussion...

I'm a Birmingham fan and i'd pick Scholes at his prime over every central midfielder in history, possibly with the exception of Zinedine ZIdane.

I'd love to see him play for Oldham and run the show in a lower league.
