Not entirely unexpected but does anyone know how they get round the rule that prevents clubs from loaning a player for more than two seasons?

Do Chelsea fans want him or Cech next season? I can't see Courtois wanting to go on loan again. Suppose you could let then fight for a 1st team place and that might push both on.

I believe according to FIFA regulations you cannot play on loan for the same club for more than 3 seasons.

A very coplex one that. Cech's no where near starting to decline as a keeper. If anything he seems to be improving after the wobble following his injury.

Courtois on the other hand is too good to come and warm the bench at Chelsea - something is going to have to give the season after the coming one and I honestly don't know what the answer is!!

Yeah Cech seems to finally be getting back to his best but by all accounts Courtois could be special.

Good problem to have

Will be interesting seeing who wins that starting spot for WC 2014 between him and Mignolet

Don't know what context it was taken out of, but only last week the Spanish media quoted Courtois as saying he felt like an Atlético player rather than a loanee.

Add too Mourinho's stated preference for commanding rather than reflex keepers, and I'm beginning to get the impression he might never go back to Chelsea.

itsonlyagame, I also feel we'll never see him play for Chelsea.

Why would he want to renew his contract with us when we have signed him and just despatched him to another country for three consecetive years. He will have no emotional bond to us as he would to AM now.
