Hope we don't sign Rooney

I know it's the funny season and we shouldn't take anything seriously. But reports are saying Rooney is at it again, threatening to leave and Chelsea being his desired choice. Deja Vu me thinks!

Although I do not doubt he is a good player, I do hope we don't sign him as I think there are better players out there. I think we should say we're not interested, he had his chance a few years back and blew it.

That being said, if by a long chance the rumours are true and we do sign him, I will of course continue being a hypercritical fan and cheer him on!

Sure he would do great for us. Think he has lost it a bit lately but he can regain that performance. Don't think he is worth 150k a week which I think he would ask for.

He is a good player kust of scored at least 20 last year. At Chelsea we could give him a new challange and new lease of life. Think about it he has won everything at club level with United it must get boring.

But if we do get him no way is he on £200+ k a year not worth making the whole team unhappy for him and ni way should we pay more than £25-£28 million for him.

In our system as a number 9 I think he could really flourish, he's not my first choice but let's not forget how could he can be.

My only concern is his fitness.

Don't think there is any chance of getting him for less than 40 million. English striker with a highly rated reputation.

You don't need Rooney the money could be better spent on a world class out and out number 9 who would best play to the strengths of Mata, Oscar and Hazzard . You should also get a top holding / deep lying midfielder.

Rooney is a unique player who had the tenacity and aggression of an English player but the technique of a Spanish or Brazilian. Players like Mata could even learn alot from Rooney putting them higher than their countrymen.

I wouldnt mind Rooney. Anyone is better than Torres. Rooney would go straight in upfront. Wouldnt be considered for any of the deeper roles or the defensive midfield role that Fergie used him in.

I dont want us to pay 250k/week to an unfit, lazy player we already have that in Torres.

I guess he'd potentially be a good replacement for Lamps...

I can't picture him in a Chelsea shirt though....

mind you I still struggle with Torres in one

For the money we would have to shell out on Rooney transfer and wages I'm sure we could get someone better and more in their prime.

Rooney is still only 27 but he looks to be on the slide after having played a lot of football in his career.
