Looks like we will have to bear it for atleast a month.
De Laurentiis told Radio Rai: "I don't think Cavani will leave on 10th August, when his buyout clause expires.
"I'm confident in him, because I consider him a real man. He won't make me a joke of me.
"Should Cavani want to leave, he will decide it after a long period of reflection.
"But by 20th July we will probably know everything about his future."

Pretty much agree with Gazza when it comes to transfer fees and wages etc, I don't see why soo many people get bogged down with it.
------------------------------------------------------
Kevin it matters for a whole host of reasons. Not just for the fact that spending too much on anything is never a good thing, especially in the FFP era.
If we pay over the odds for Cavani and he flops we are going to look mighty stupid as a club considering what happened previously with Torres.
We´ll be accused of wasting 100 million on both Torres and Cavani and there could be all kinds of negative reprocussions from that.
For that price tag there just seems more to lose than to win.
Yes Cavani could be a success but he will be a success that we paid through the nose for.
If he´s a flop then it will be an all-round disaster and we might get a reputation for ruining strikers which would not be a good thing at all.

I agree with Kevin, we are so disliked already that it no longer matters what we do; so as long as we dont do anything that will bring us sanctions in terms of points or money, or is illegal/morally despicable outside of football, then im fine with any tactic to get us to the top

Kevin I don´t really care what others think either. But let´s say Cavani is a flop then we´might struggle to attract another top class forward to the club.
That´s really where I was going with my comment.

Superb, strikers will always want money.

Don't worry we will have Lukaku to fall back on for the next 10 years, I'm sure we will give Cavani at least 2 seasons He won't flop though, too good of a player, and yet to reach his peak.
Unless of course we ruin him as well

Gazza...
I had to make an impact comment as i was on the way out of the door.............sorry!
But my point is i don't for one minute buy that the club buys players with impact on shirt sales in mind over performance on the pitch and if it did matter then we would not sack managers for failing to win trophies.
The idea that signing a player that increases shirt sales could ofset the fact that he actually weakened the team is just rubbish though.......
In the history of the game there has been only one player who could do that we all know his name, but he is a marketing phenomemnan.

Would be nice to actually have a scouting system in place after 10 year of Roman's investment whereby we can identify decent players early on instead of paying stupid money for them, I fully accept that Real, Barca, Man U Bayern,Milan & Inter have better scouting system than us , but ffs we buy players off Benfica, Porto, Lyon, & now potentially Napoli, who a few years ago where in Italys 3rd div, but have managed to find Cavani, Hamsik , lavezzi , other clubs like Udinese, Atletico,Valencia Lazio Palermo all find top quality south american/african/E europeans. Thats where the investment is needed the scouting system
