Morning Spurs fans,
I found this article on Opta comparing Ronaldo 08/09 against Bale 12/13. Found it an interesting read so decided to share.

As well as trying to compare the 2 players it also looks at the total league stats for each season to try and create subjective analysis.

These stats look great
As it says at the end Ronaldo had been doing it for a number of years but it still shows Bale is right up there if not above the player the Utd fans were all creaming over a few years back

Is there a comparison for Ronaldo 07/08?

bloodred - Don't think so, think they have just created one based on Ronaldo's last season in PL against Bale's Last season in PL
In 07/08 Ronaldo had a goal scoring record of 0.85 gpg compared to 0.49 gpg in 08/09.

Yeah. In fairness Ronaldo spent the first month or so of 08/09 injured, then another couple of months sulking over his move to Madrid. It was only in the second half of the season he really got going, being a major factor in us getting to the CL final that year.
I would compare Bale to the Ronaldo of 06/07. I've said many times before ( to the amusement of some United fans) that Bale is at a similar level to what Ronaldo was that season. But in the two years that followed Ronaldo turned in to an absolute machine. Saying that, I wouldn't put it past Bale to do the same.

If Bale continues to improve he could become as big as Ronaldo, if he stays at Spurs and only maintains his form with no improvement I would be more than happy.
I still have no idea if he will still be at Spurs next season or if Madrid flashing their knickers every 10 minutes will turn his head (or Levy sees too many dollars to say no to).

So instead of comparing Ronaldo from the 07/08 season, they compare the Ronaldo from 08/09 where he had one of his few injury hit seasons? Bit biased.

After that season he went for 80m. I think that is the point.
