The way I see this transfer window part 2

Then this little gem from the Evening Standard ( who for me are the most reliable newspaper for spurs news along with the Independent) on Paulinho's arrival illustrates that we are in fact in the market for yet ANOTHER MF, which threw my Football Manager fantasy equation right out the window...

Of course by this point, I'm nursing a semi lob on and wondering how on earth we can afford these "5 players" AVB says we are going to purchase to make us a force for next season.
Minutes turned to hours, and hours turned to days..but then I got it!
Does anyone else agree maybe we are spending in advance from either
a) The Bale Sale (potential retirement gameshow a la Noel Edmunds?)
b) Potential CL participation in the 2014/2015 season ?
Assuming Pjanic arrives from Roma for the reported £19.8m , which is increasingly likely now with Baldini at the club and his knowledge of theirs, it means two things; we would have spent a total of £46.8m on Paulinho, Villa & Pjanic, meaning also we would have to sell players to balance the books other than Ade and Hudd for a combined £10m (taking the spent total down to £36.8m).
The 2 most likely culprits for the chop for me are Dempsey & Siggy, based on game time available to them & the £££ we can get for selling them.
After the surprisingly decent first season for Dempz at Spurs, he would generate at least the fee we bought him for now, but does offer an option of versatility in the way of attacking positions and also contributed a decent goal rate last season.
Siggy however, I believe will most probably get even less time on the pitch if Pjanic arrives as not only plays in his role as the attacking player of a midfield 3 but also plays in the same secondary role out on the right a la holtby on the left. Considering we paid just under £9m for him, has only been at the club for one season and is still young enough to get better, I'd give him another season at Spurs. In contrast, it was touted in January that Reading were prepared to spend £10m on him which if Levy could negotiate the same price, would be seen as shrewd business.
With Spurs looking for NEW STRIKER no.2, I believe we have a shortlist of 5 candidates
Soldado
Benteke
Damiao
Negredo
Remy
With Damiao on his way to Saints, Negredo to City and Remy on a rape charge that leaves us with Soldado and Benteke which if available is going to cost us the best part of £20m. I think Benteke is our man as Soldado is too expensive for us and important for Valencia.
This takes our spending to a whopping £66.8m, but with potential sales of£16.8m for (arguments sake) across 5 players, it would reduce this to a cool£50m
If you take my fantasy theory of spending the Bale £ in advance, it could work out as£50m across 2 seasons, which logically is more realistic with our rumoured potential earnings(Bale to Madrid nxt season, CL) against the £ spent on players.
Brain has emptied & melted.
Thoughts? COYS!

The way I see it we're either spending the CL money or the Bale money in advance.. preferably in that order

Word is that this is the last summer we can net spend big - due to ffp, so that is what we are doing. With Real Madrid apparently giving up, I reckon there is no chance that we will sell bale

I know it's 2 seasons down the line but I do wonder if we are trying to build a squad that can compete in the league and the Europa at full tilt. Now that the Europa league from the 2015 season will allow the winner into the champions league.

With the TV money English clubs earn over the other Euro teams they will be favourites for this competition for the foreseeable future. Get used to the Thursday/Sunday games this season and if we only finish 5th next year we will hopefully be in a position to challenge on both fronts the following year.

It is ridiculous really that we will have more money to spend this summer than Borussia Dortmund.

You've obviously put a lot of thought into this and number-crunching to back it up which I applaud you for. Trying to make sense of it all myself but I've succumbed to hayfever for the first time in my life and these pills cause drowsiness so the brains working slightly slower than normal!

As far as the strikers go though Benteke is going to cost MORE than soldado. Valencia didn't qualify for the champions league which is basically what they base their figures on as they usually make it so selling soldado is a real possibility and his buyout clause is around £22m but they may accept slightly less. Take into accoun benteke's first season (good debut but some spurs fans on here make him sound like some young prodigy like Torres used to be), the PL tax and villa's reduced wage bill he's likely to cost about £25m IMO.

I'd personally get David villa, keep ade and Defoe unless we get a decent bid for either (£8m and above). I would have said get aubameyang as a replacement for either but he's gone to Dortmund. Also read talk of mario Gomez being available for £18m and fiorentina backing out as they can't afford him (until they sell jovetic who nobody's actually bidding for). I'd wait and see what else is out there as both villa and Gomez are both set to leave their current clubs due to being benched all the time
