Arsenal have made it to the top 4 with players no one would consider as world class

I'm sure Chelsea are just getting started in the transfer market and I'm sure they'll go 'big'!

Really? Chelsea hierarchy seem to be suggesting something different. They are suggesting they have finished unless they can sell Torres.

Do you see the irony of the statement quoting me?

Hmmm, we'll see.

This is Mourinho we're talkin' about, he's a manager that needs money (not saying that as a specifically negative jibe, honest).

Chelsea's squad is fit to burst. They also need more English players to meet the quota, hence them trying to sign John Ruddy.

I imagine they'll move on one or two and bring in a couple of seriously big hitters!

There is no English quota, you just aren't allowed more than 17 foreign players.

There they have a bit of a problemo. They have about as many players (some of who cost a lot of money) out on-loan as they do in the squad.

Yeah, but if they are on loan it won't matter.

I expect they'll get rid of a couple of the established players to free up some squad space for Lukaku and De Bruyne.

I agree about your comment on Mourinho however all people close to him seem to be suggesting he is very hurt by the insinuation that he is only successful because he spends money. And Chelsea are taking FFP seriously.

So they are saying that Chelsea will not bring anymore names. If Lukaku succeeds, Mourinho will say that he can work with youngsters, if Torres or Ba succeed he will take the credit for turning around careers. If they all fail he has an excuse that he inherited rubbish.

They do want to sell Mata and Torres but are not getting interest from Spain because of their high wages, so apparently that would be it.

Now I only really look at Arsenal so I wonder how accurate those rumours are but there you have it.

Yeah, Chelsea are apparently trying to be a bit more 'sensible' in the market as FFP starts to take shape this season (how that will work I have no idea).

In the last 18 months Abramovich wrote off a sizable portion of money the club owed just so the figures (on paper) looked more respectable and a show of intent by the club to run itself more 'ethically' was/is a marker for the future.
