Stephen McManus is the latest Boro player rumoured to be given a move away from our club, this time the ex-Celtic man surprisingly linked with Rangers. Probably not the most reliable source, and not neccessarily factually correct either (McManus hasn't neccessarily 'fallen out of the picture' - it's more a case of injury woes), but interesting nonetheless.

Any thoughts on this rumour? Would we miss him? Would we need to replace him?
Personally i think we would miss him, despite his obvious flaws. But at the same time a lot of the players on high wages that we'd ideally look to offload will be tough to flog, so i think if we could push for a deal here it would be a good move for the club and still leave us with enough capable defenders:
Bennett, McMahon, Rhys Williams, Bates, Taylor (if he signs a new contract) and Hines, as well as the likes of Reach, Grounds and numerous other academy projects make for a good enough defensive squad in my opinion. Fingers crossed that the overpaid Hoyte isn't part of that list come the end of the summer transfer window. Utb.

Sorry that my knowledge of the SPL isn't quite up to scratch. But I don't see not knowing the ins and outs of the dross that is Scottish football as anything to be ashamed of. As a Boro fan all i really care about is what players leave and arrive at my club. Why are you on this forum again...?
And, no, i didn't get paid to write this... surprisingly. Perhaps you need an education of what a football forum actually is.

i dont really think a boro fan can comment on anyones season considering at the start of this you were considerd a shoo in for promotion and you didnt even make the play offs, and as a celtic fan dont even start me on the mess that is mowbry .
However mcmanus wouldnt go to rangers, its just a no go from the start , he has become consistent for you guys and with a decent ball playing defender beside him he can do you a turn , remeber this guy has played against and beated ac milan, barca and many more top quality teams.
