Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas feels Real Madrid counterpart Carlo Ancelotti was wrong to go public with their offer for Gareth Bale.
The Bale saga has dominated the summer headlines, and although the Spurs boss insists no move is imminent, he was again forced to answer questions about the Welshman's future after their 5-2 friendly defeat by Monaco.
Bale was not involved in that match because of injury but Real are keen to wrap up a possible world record deal for the 24-year-old before the start of the season and Ancelotti revealed talks were underway earlier in the week.
When asked if he felt Ancelotti was in the wrong, Villas-Boas said: "I think so, in my opinion.
"Carlo is a person I appreciate a lot and we have great respect for each other, but bearing in mind this situation they have decided to make it public.
"Normally in situations like this it is scrutinised by the Football Association with lots of care and attention. We have seen lots of people speak about a player that is not theirs and we are due some respect.
"These rumours of an imminent transfer are not true. The only thing we have communicated with Real Madrid is that he is our player and he is not for sale.
"Gareth is a guy I really like. We are talking with Real Madrid because there is respect between the two clubs following the transfer last season of Luka Modric.
"We are building a great team for next season. We envisage the future with Gareth. But we know that in football anything is possible."

3 players went to Napoli but only Higuaín was paid for £34million I think it was and carvalho went Monaco on a free that's it so far!
But they've paid out about £55million on isco and that player from sociedad

Higuain, callejon and albiol all went to Napoli.
I like (well used to) ancelotti but it's clear the Real Madrid DNA commonly known as w&nk3ritis has infected him

Haven't been on the boards for a while so sorry if there's been articles like the question I am about to ask. However, are there any Spurs fans that want him sold? I mean, if you was offered say £85m for him, the club said we'd use all that and maybe £20m internally the club has to rebuild the squad, wouldn't you have a better chance of getting into the Champions League?

Real, although seemingly bankrolled by the king, cannot afford to extend their debt margin imo.
It is offset by their massive profit however, but I think the discussions would be more likely regarding the fact when our star is available, that Real Madrid would be in pole position; and perhaps the availability of Coentrao.
I do love AVBs handling of the media, he does come off very dignified, which is something that used to bother me about, not only Harry, but other managers when it comes to talking about matters as sensitive as this.

Dark pheonix- I think history has shown that spending doesn't always guarantee success.
I would like bale to stay, as having a player of his calibre would not only 'soldificate' our chances of reaching CL, but attracting better players to THFC and helping us to become more of a worldwide brand.

Exactly. They've brought in probably around £50m with their sales this summer but spent about £75m. Both sets of transfers are likely to be staggered payments which would make it easier for them, so IF we do sell him we insist it's on our terms: immediate full payment or no deal. Just fack them right over just as they facked Barcelona into paying £48m for neymar

I've just seen some of the pre-season match between Real and LA Galaxy. Seems Real don't need Bale. They can take Ronaldo off and put on ..... Benzema. And they have a host of other players like Kaka and Di Maria. Modric wasn't even on the bench.
Ancelotti was sitting there fiddling with team sheets and assistants to make decisions. They made about 12 substitutions during the game.

.................
Of course they don't need him, they want him because he's now a big name and as someone they hope can have a big impact on the pitch and financially. They know neymar is the biggest name in brazil and fear that he'll help barca remain the best while selling loads of shirts so they want bale to have the same impact.
Perez believes that "the most expensive players are always the cheapest", because they'll always repay their fees through merchandise sales. For example beckham cost £25m and lets say they paid him 100k a week over 4 years, that's £45m. If a shirt is £55 a pop and 1 million of those were sold worldwide over those 4 years (no doubt he sold more) then that's £55m in revenue, which explains how they pay these huge transfer fees and why they're allegedly offering us only £20m upfront. Tell them to come up with all the cash or they should fack off. Non-negotionable

Does not mean he won't be sold, a managers job is to come out and say that the player is not for sale is for a few reasons
1 - To make Real step up the bid and make the financial package suitable for Spurs and the chairman
2 - To make Real actually bid what the player is worth
I still feel GB has his head turned by Real, his agent and by people close to him, he's missed 3 pre-season games and those are vital games with new players being brought into the team
A strain does not keep you out this long
Levy is a hard guy to deal with, you wonder why this will drag on another two maybe three weeks, the package has to suit our club
