Gonna miss out on Long - LCFC

"Looks like West Brom are in the driving seat for Shane Long, they will sign a striker this week #WBA"

"Don't think West Brom's incoming bid for Long is of the same value of Leicester's one which is still on the table, but he does want Prem"

as of 12.55:
"Look's like Reading have accepted a £6m bid from West Brom for Shane Long, Leicester's bid was more! #WBA"

Straight from fourthofficial's twitter, who has been very accurate this year in ttransfer dealings.

Good thing or a bad thing?

I, too, continue to think that Robbie Keane until January might be a good move.

Agree about Keane.

Just think we should go back with a revised offer for Maynard. Put some pressure on the board - offer them £6m to test their resolve.

I would be astounded if you managed a Keano coup, but how likely this is, is another matter. Sven has never even mentioned his name from my recollection.

Maybe his loan targets won't be addressed until the Prem teams finalise their squads.

We may have to be patient for another month.

He is at our place having a medical according to reports so happy days for us baggies as we need a new ST and he has obviously been the only player Roy wanted for the position all summer.

Keane would be a good move for you guys but there have been reports linking him with us and a few other prem teams on a loan deal, I would love to see him at Albion as then we would have a striker force of:

Odemwingie, Long, Cox, Keane and Tchoyi

Anyway hope you guys come up this season and I can't wait to join in with the laughing at Florist when they choke AGAIN

The Keane position is going to be rather fluid. He wants out of WHL, because he's going to be a 'not wanted on voyage' player when the squad caps have to be decided on. But he'll be trying to land a three (or at minimum two) year contract somewhere.

However, come the end of the window, if he hasn't found a taker, he's going to need to consider where he wants to showcase himself in the months leading up to the January window. If he does a stint with one of the Prem promotion sides, and they're not scoring goals, he's going to find it hard to shine. In a quality Champ team, on the other hand, he might be clocking up a handy total of goals and assists. But not many Champ teams could stretch their budgets to cover his wages…

Sven isn't going to be touting the names of Premiership players at this stage. Few (if any) are going to be available until that squad cap guillotine falls. But I'll bet he has a few people on a mental list of players he'd be interested in borrowing if/when they are sidelined.

Do you (WBA) think you will sell Mr Cox to us? Surely he will be surplus to your requirements.....

Not sure how you can call him a one season wonder. Let's see his form this season before you male that decision. He was the best striker in the league last season.

Our decision to sell to WBA and not Leicester is not Petty it's due to McD's promise to Long that he'd get him a move to the Prem and that's what he's doing.

WBA fans you're getting a cracking player who not only scores goals but creates goals and will work hard for 90 minutes. He will chase balls that other players would consider lost and willnot only get to them but make something out of it as well.

This tops the Doyle deal. Selling a player for 171 times what we brought him for.

Good question, Culle. Hawthorns is an unsuitable place for Cox to be left hanging around.

It's confirmed. Undisclosed fee beleived to be between 6-7 million. Good business for both teams.

Culle not a chance, Cox is staying put and will not be surplus to requirements. He is starting to show his true from under Roy and is a player who Roy has admitted himself likes a lot, under RDM you probably could of bought him as he never rated him but under Hodgson he has become our 2nd/3rd choice striker to battle with Long and Odemwingie being our number 1.

The only strikers we will have available are Miller who is off to Forest, Bednar who you had last season and is just a coke/pot head now who can't be bothered and possibly Fortune depending on if Tchoyi plays as a striker this year or winger.
