Jones is not a RB

Good win yesterday. It was always going to be a tough game away and after the 1st 30min the team settled down and played some decent stuff.

Welbeck impressed me,I think he is a good player but he should not be a starter for United. Today he played really well and if he continues to improve I will be very glad.

I thought Cleverly was poor but to be fair to him he had a very tough job with Giggs goiung AWOL! Many times in the 1st half Cleverly was playing in a LM/ LCM role with Giggs behind RvP and Welbeck drifting wide left. It unbalanced the team and led to us losing the ball in the 1st half.

My gripe is with Jones. He was sloppy in possession, his passing was poor and he looked flustered. He improved as the game wore on however I saw player ratings of 7 on the board that I just don't agree with. Fabio should start if Rafael is injured. Jones and Smalling are CB's and should be back up to Rio and Vidic.

Agree?

Yes agree 100%, most of swansea's threat came down their left, laudrup obviously targeted that area before the game, i like jones a lot but he's not a RB.

Agreed, Fabio should have played at RB yesterday, if he is to be a future starter, he should be getting games too. Playing Jones at RB won't really develop him as a CB.

Moyes first game, just think he didn't want to take any chances.

Welbeck is going to be a starter on this team for long time.

God I hope not, don't let 1 good goal cloud your judgement. Kagawa and Rooney are both far superior players.

He may have been a bit sloppy but he is fairly solid defensively which is very important in away games like yesterday, moreso than what fabio would have given us going forward. If this were a home game I would see more of a case for Fabios inclusion

No he was not fairly solid defensively, he was flustered and didn't have an out ball. The weak pass to Cleverly in the 1st half summed his performance up. At CB his out ball is to Rafael to his right or Carrick in front of him. At RB he looked lost as to where he should pass. That is worse than an attacking FB like Fabio who would atleast run with the ball if needed. I don't hold with the concept that you need different FB for home and away.

Blademaster,

Absolutely right!

At the moment Jones is generally poor defensively at right back or centre back. He often gets dragged out of position and looks slow and cumbersome at times. He also offers next to nothing going forward, I agree that Fabio should be playing right back when Rafa is unavailable.

Jones should be playing centre back but he's a long long way behind Evans and Smalling at the moment and has done absolutely nothing to warrent some of the praise he's received over the past year or so. Future England captain and potentially one of Uniteds greatest ever players he certainly is not.
