Having watched the game tonight it is apparent for all to see that we need to keep this lad. When he went to QPR I was not fussed in the slightest.
How wrong I was.
Whether it is the 6 months on loan that has livened him up I'm not sure but he is seriously starting to impress me.
There were rumours a week ago he isn't in AVB's plans but I honestly feel he could play a major part this season. I like Lennon but I think (as with Huddlestone) sentiment means nothing these days at Tottenham. Unless Aaron starts to up his game I think he could be looking at the League Cup for any game time this season.
Thoughts please.

I think you are all getting extremely excited over a player who I doubt will feature much at all this season.
The posters on this board and the old 606 do it all the time. I remember getting flamed big time when we signed Bentley because "he was a great signing".
Palcious was the same. Half a good game and this board goes crazy over a player. At this point in time Lennon is worth 3 of Townsend and has the ability and the EXPERIENCE to affect a premiership game which is something Townsend lacks.
Yes he is a good footballer but he is not a great footballer and never will be thats just the way it is and in 12 months time or so half the people on here raving about him will be saying "I never really rated him that highly"

Why is that whenever a new pl;ayer joins the club, automatically after a game or two they should replace established players? Townsend looked good yesterday but he has looked average in the past. Chadliu may have got an assist last night but without Lennon, we would not have won the game against palace, he provided the cross which was handled in the box... give people time, don't just assume that Townsend is the real deal until he has done it consistantly over a period of time.
There is no sentiment involved here, outside of Bale, Lennon is still the most proven winger we have... no knee jerk reactions please. If Townsend has a few bad games and Chadli decent start fizzles out, you guys will be writing an article of how Lennon used to unlock defenses etc etc..

PS we are in 4 competitions this year, even with 4 wingers (which i think we need anyway, 2 for each postion) there will be plenty of games fro players to impress and stake a claim. Siggy is not a winger before anyone says we have him, he can do a job but he is not great out wide, play players in there natural positions

Or of course we could get knocked out in the first round of the league cup and the first round of the FA Cup and then how many games will we have ?
I have never been in favour of rotation and believe that players should be capable of playing 50/60 games a season. The season is nearly 10 months long which is about 40 weeks. Why the hell is it such a drama for players to play on average one and a half games a week ?
They are supposed to be super fit, they are not playing in 4 inches of mud like they did in the 60s and 70's please tell me whats so tough about playing 2 games a week for about 50K a week and thats the badly paid ones.

English football has moved on since the 60s Grandspur, even since the 90s. Not technically, but fitness wise. These guys are athletes nowadays, and highly tuned ones at that. You couldn't get away with boozing and playing with a hangover.
Look how many injuries there are - they are trained to optimum capability and the margins are fine
Come the end of the season, having that little bit of freshness could mean the difference between getting injured or not, or having that little extra in the locker.
Rotation may not be to everyone's liking but its the way it has to be done.

Yes it has moved on, they no longer play knee deep in mud which is guaranteed to injure players as they turn.
They no longer have to put up with tackles that border on GBH and would put a modern day footballer out for about 3 tears.
They no longer have a ball that weighs a ton and they dont spend anywhere near as long getting to and from away games. They dont have to do part time jobs in the summer to make ends meet like they did when the minimum wage was in operation and they are pampered 24/7.
No wonder we have a breed of footballers where two games a week is simply to much for them to cope with
As for injuries, yes just look at how many there are nowadays particularly when a player does not really fancy a trip tp Wigan on a Tuesday night in February or is possibly trying to engineer a move to Real Madrid.

Grandspurs, rotation didn't serve fergie so badly did it

Surely two games a week isn't too much to ask no matter how finely tuned an athlete we're dealing with?
If Mo Farah (sp) can run 10,000 m and 5,000 m in a week at the olympics I'm fackin sure a footballer on £'kinstupid can play twice a week

With his squad and tactical ability no it did not but he was not resting the likes of Scholes and playing the likes of Dempsey was he ?
