Not exactly one I saw coming but if it moves Jones one step away from the first 11 maybe not a bad thing!

Surprise new signing?

Oh come on! surely there must be some other free transfers or cast offs of the top four to sign before the transfer window closes?

Jones isn't adequate backup to Mignolet.
If Mig was injured, then the manager could look foolish loaning out Pepe. Bringing in more experience into the squad and a higher caliber backup is a good move imo.
Still need a quality CB and a WF though, add in decent cover for Lucas and I would be delighted

Given has actually been much worse than Jones on current form. Awful in the Euros for Ireland and then maintained that form for Villa before getting dropped for good.

Given would be a very good signing

Not a bad signing.
We need more experience in the squad and I would imagine Given is a top professional.
Not one to get excited about though, and why have seemingly left 3 or 4 transfers so late?

that's hardly fair, we did try to get transfers done early. but negotiations can take time, especially when the selling club or players agents try to start a bidding war.
we were doing well, we'd agreed a fee with mikhi's club, but the agent wouldn't let us talk to the player.
we'd agreed fee's with other clubs, then other clubs come in and offer more, ridiculously overpaying in some cases, which we rightly refused to match.
so we have to start negotiations all over again with other clubs and players. it's obvious we're trying to get more players in. it seems currently we've got things mostly settled with a few transfers, but the selling clubs seem to keep wanting to increase the price, so we're all just playing chicken with the transfer deadline now. our owners seem to be quite good at playing hardball though, so we've just got to be patient and wait for the selling clubs to crack.

Given will be good back-up...much better Jones.
Maybe this is the end of a LFC career for Jones?

Nah Jones won't be leaving.
He is a good character and happy enough not playing.
He will see out his contract to 2016 I bet. He is fine as back up. Back up keepers are never that good, otherwise they wouldn't be back up.

No point paying big wages to Given not to play.
That's why we let Pepe go out.
I know Jones isn't the best, got a lot of affection for him though with what happened to his Son. This is just football
