I loved Saints Row 2, was so addicted to it, but could never get into SR3 despite numerous attempts to do so. Was a huge let down.

Despite my reluctance, I went ahead and purchased SR4 at the weekend - had £30 of Game vouchers and nothing else in there attracted me - already purchased most of the other new games out.
So far, I'm pleasantly surprised. While the story is a little bit out there i.e. Saints Row are now in presidency, alien invasion and so on, the game has actually started out pretty well.
It feels like the creators perhaps realised people are getting a little bored of the standard "GTA" formula e.g. car chases, shoot outs, races, mini games and so on, and have decided to tweak it a little bit for their latest installment.
You play (so far anyway) in a simulated world and therefore can have and gain "superhero" powers i.e. super high jumping and sprinting as fast as a car. Think of the Prototype games.
Will see how it develops but actually quite enjoying it so far

Sounds like you're about to the point I got just before NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS.

Oh dear, really? I'm at the part where you escape on the spaceship and then obviously have to go back in the simulator. Done a few missions and like I say, enjoying it so far.

that's literally the part. Now you will begin the monotony of SR4. Well, hell maybe you will like it and I'm wrong but up until that I was pleasantly surprised as well.

Ah fair enough.
I like the "super hero" approach though. Would of really loved Prototype if it wasn't for the fact how frustrating it was combat wise.

Any updates?

Nah, can only play during the weekends as I work away during the week and my ancient 360 would probably die for good if I tried to bring it with me! Will play again tomorrow.
You've dashed my high hopes though

See what you mean now. It's dragging on and on and on.
