Best Years

My mate not Benny txt me earlier today and asked me what where my fave years as a Bolton fan. He actually referred to the Rioch years and Big Sams years. Very tough when I though about it so here is my own thoughts.

Bruce got the job after the sack at Millwall after a good time at Boro, when maybe his promotion was a year to early for directors and he got the push, mental when it was the pre Prem League years.

So Brucey, he came in dropped the cat Felgate and brought Branny in, got rid of the Ice man Philliskirk and brought Supa John in. What I loved about Bruce pre prem league n soundbites was he used words/terms like maximum and playing to the best of your ability /make the town happy etc. Another great memory of Bruce was that people hushed when he spoke on the radio or the telly, we were in awe.
I don't blame Bruce for leaving us, he created a buzz about the town that non of us fans had every really appreciated at that time. Bolton shirts everywhere, even on a Sat night ,a real camaraderie within the town, a real sense of pride.
Loved Bruce n Colin.
Big Sam, came in and retained Browny which was a masterstroke, the fans loved em both. When Sam started fans were not impressed with his style, Jesus nobody even turned up for the League Cup semi against Tranmere. Then we grew character, lads like Farelly etc where the first of the rank , then Warhurst, Hendry etc came in implementing the grit of Gudni then we became a hard unit to play against, allowing players like Eidur to excel.
Then the golden years of JJ,Heirro, Youri, Anelka etc.Great years in fact they seem so long ago,but I loved them.
Big Sam, well was a hero for us, forward thinking, good defence, great midfield options etc n great forwards.
But for me maybe emotionally Bruce give us pride back in the shirt and the town, times were carefree, players in the local pub etc on a Sat night, so maybe they were my fave times, even though Sam brought great times.
Your thoughts lads.

Thanks MT for your response pal. Although I put this article up for guys like you, not some immature clown to jump on like TRR.

You're telling me that little idiot who's attacked me on here is none other than the dweeb TRR??

TRR why in gods name do you keep going at people on here? I and others have shown we are quicker and better at retorting... You're the original small man... You've been banned for homophonic comments, you've referred to me as a ret4rd & you still seek people out to insult them?! Isn't it time you actually grew up (no pun) and acted like a fellow fan of the same team... You're training to be a what? Social worker? I wouldn't trust you to look after one of my farts let alone give advice to a human.

Grow up, stop targeting Nuns and Benny, and don't try my patience. I can wipe the floor with you, and have many times. Come into the BWFC fold or clear off and sell some upgrades. No one cares you've got a chip on your shoulder any more....

Benny - very close.

Ian greaves

Blackburn 0 Bolton 1 Yes
Man utd 1 Bolton 2 No, it was actually the3hp home win against them in the same season.

Bruce

Liverpool 0 Bolton 2 Yes, my all time favourite
Hull 1 Bolton 2 Yes
Bolton 1 Preston 0 No, its the Swindon CcCup semi home leg.
Everton 2 Bolton 3 Yes
Arsenal 1 Bolton 3 Yes
Bolton 2 wolves 1 Yes
Bolton 4 reading. Yes, my second all time favourite.

Sam Bolton 3 Preston 0. No, actually the 2-2 draw with Leicester when Mike Riley tried to cheat and had us down to 9 men. That Ricketts equaliser sent us mental.

That should say 3-0 home win for the Ian Greaves second match.

Although only a small window, Bruce Rioch's years were my most enjoyable following the Wanderers. Somehow, I fear that it will be a long, long time before we witness excitement like it again.
