Wanderers v Derby LIVE

I've waited five and a half years for the next Grand Theft Auto game to come out and instead of going home from work and getting settled in to play it I'm on the way to the Reebok in my work clothes to freeze my knackers off and watch another soulless and insipid effort from a bunch of multi-millionaires who seem to think turning up for training and matches is the beginning and end of their commitment to my beloved club.

Don't talk to me. I'm not happy.

Zat Knight has been dropped. Christmas has come early.

Have we ever started a season this badly?

I heard a reporter on SSN say its our worst start for 50 years. I haven't bothered to check, but it sounds about right.

Some thing:
Spearing slow start in midfield and it cost us for the goals but as he got into it much better.

Brian Clough is currently turning in his grave after his son's antics on the touchline.

Better all round play today but without the ball we are set up so it's too easy to pass round us.

We are still not playing to strikers strengths and that's a problem.

The strangest refereeing performance I've seen. A free kick for miskicking was the worst of his decisions.

We'll get out of it. Remember wolves had a half decent start last season.

I haven't been since Reading for a number of reasons but here is my assessment of tonight.

We play 4-2-3-1 which is currently a popular formation which I have no issue with really. However the problem is the 1. Beckford's game is not really suited to it it. He has a record for getting goals and I know we all want a goal scoring striker but this is a team game and we can't afford passengers. The formation would lend itself better to Cravies. Hall, Lee and Eagles will trouble any team but they have to have opportunity to get close to the striker and attack as unit of 4. If they attack together as tonight proved especially for the first goal they can cut teams open. We need Cravies to hold the ball up and trouble the defenders in the air. The reason for this is the lack of ability at the back. Wheater, Mills and Bogdan can't do anything more than hit it long. If that's the case then it has to stick. This would give the three number 10s a chance to join in play in attacking positions. As currently they are trying to run the ball from half way. It would stop the silly goal kicks to Tierney. Bogdan can then slow the game and let the 4 up front gather as a unit. Cravies will also run channels which pulls defenders apart leaving space for Eagles etc. I would like to think Ngog could play this role but he is far too greedy to play a role that sacrifices your own game for the team.

The second issue is Spearing and Ream. Tonight they got better but if we are to stop leaking goals they have to play a part. In the first half they failed to track runners. This causes the CBs all sorts of problems. They must create a blocking line in front of the back 4. To do this they have to communicate better to each other to track runners. Also they must play as a close two hunting down the ball together. The only way past them should be over their heads. Balls in the air should be easier for two big slow centre backs to deal with.

The next issue is Mills and Wheater. They must be stronger in tackles and headers. Every Clarence must make half way.

In terms of set pieces let Tierney deliver them all. I am sick of seeing the ball fail to best the first man. Tierney has a great left foot.

Tonight was not bad or good. Lets hope this is the move from bad to good beginning!

The spine of the team very weak. Bogdan always got a mistake in him. Mills/wheater never played together and it showed. Played like strangers, no pace, poor distribution pub team players really. Spearing/ream did ok but I agree with cravies on above. Up front Beckford is awful. We would be better having sordell or even Kevin Davies back. The only good thing about beckford is his transfer fee is related to his success, ie number of goals/ promotion. The rate he is going Leicester will owe us. Thought the full backs were ok. I liked hall and the freedom eagles and Lee had to play although Lee is nothing like the player signed quite a while ago by Gary megson. To sum up yes we are relegation fodder. As my brother said at the weekend its just like the early 80s all over again.

After Reams improved peformances could he now
play centre back with Mills or Wheater he would give
us better distribution and allow Medo back in the team.

Anybody know why we've adopted the primary school trip to the farm hand holding formation when defending set pieces? Can our defence really not hold a line without being in physical contact with one another?

If the defence act like kids they're going to be bloomin treated like them WATOAOW.

I recon the problems this season purely stem from the change in training methods this summer. Footballers are generally set in their ways and take ages to adapt.

I fully expect things to improve immensely once they get used to the new methods.

If they don't then we're certainly doomed.
