Januzaj contract

Talks have been ongoing for months.

Surely it's a case of asking him: "What do you want?" And paying it.

At this hour there is surely nothing to be gained from negotiating a halfway point.

Even if he's asking for £50k a week. That's still £2.6m a year.

P.S. I know Robb will come on and spout the nonsense he was saying about Pogba but times have changed and these specially talented 18 year olds are worth it over the below average players who will pledge their whole lives to United for a fraction of that money.

He's currently an outstanding prospect with very good ability. He's part of the United squad and a junior member at that, but not a regular, probably rotation for the best part of this season and maybe part of next.

£30k a week would be ample at this stage of his career. It's not as if he signs a contract for 5 years and we won't negotiate a pay rise until he's stayed for 4 of those years. If he continues to improve and contribute then I'm sure the club would re-negotiate a better deal to equal his value to the team.

Javier Hernandez signed his contract (I think it was 4 years at something like £20k a week), made a big impact and was rewarded with a new contract within 12 months.

There should be none of this 'we should give him a £100k 5 year contract' at the moment. Pay the lad a good sum, but let him continue to work and improve to get a bigger contract.

anyway.... maybe we should leave all the crying for if he does actually leave.

Something i finally agree with you on. Before the game, I had a faux indifference on Januzaj as it was the only thing that could really get me to really angry this season losing another youngster.

And no one wants me angry, i'll depress everyone.

Wages should be the last worry thing for an 18 years old.

Which he might do tbh if we dont offer him a wage that a bunch of other clubs will offer if hes available on a free transfer

Which 18 years old get paid 100k?
Ronaldo wasn't on that when he was 18 and probably neither Messi.
As I said, at 18 his motivation should only be playing time.
Look at Lukaku, he is the perfect example of how a youngster should behave. He just wants to play and always has the right attitude on the pitch. God, I'd love him at Arsenal.

Am I reading right? Are some of you really want to offer a 18 years old, whom just made his debut in the league 100k just because he has potential?
I doubt the issue regarding his contract is because of money, probably more playing time rather than anything else.
But if really it is because he wants 100k then just let him leave, he won't make it. Wages should be the last worry thing for an 18 years old.

Yep and when Arsenal offer him £50k a week and a £5m signing on fee (which equates to £100k a week) you'd be protesting outside the Emirates on the lavish expenditure.

********************

Please let go of this train of thought. Why should the stage of his career influence anything? Is this a bureaucracy where you get promotions?

The simple thing is to answer these questions 1) is he good enough? 2) if yes to 1, just how good is he compared to market price? then pay him.

We've given Januzaj every opportunity to progress at United.

He's gone from the U18s to the U21s to the first team and onto a first start which will be the first of many this season in less than a year which must be record time so lack of playing time like it was with Pogba can't be an excuse.

At this stage, I'd be more than happy for us to offer between £50-70,000, what Welbeck, Cleverley et al are apparently on and which is more than enough for a player his age considering Pogba who as we know all too well is one of the best young talents in world football, is only on between £20-25,000 a week at Juventus.

I don't believe however that Januzaj is a player who is motivated by money and I do still believe he'll sign a new contract.

Contract talks as has been reported are well on their way so it hopefully won't be too much longer before we hear the news that we all want to hear.

I'm sure Moyes and Woodward will be working extremely hard to finding a solution during the International break.

If he does leave, you can bet it's already on the agents mind right now and working on it, and then only silly money will keep him.
If he is a person of any character trhough, and is given a fair offer, he should stay. Loyalty usually stays with you throughout your career, if not forcibly pushed in another direction, so we will just have to wait and see what this future prima-donna is made of.
He certainly looks like the real thing, and a legend in the making...but to an unscrupilous agent he is merely a commodity to brighten up thier $$$ -filled eyes.. Lets hope they consider his career before the the rush to the gold-strike.

Judging by comments of Moyes re: "If he were my son".... Then it is clear that the lad's father is the one who will be most important to sway, not his agent.

It is widely know that his father is key to him not yet making a decision on which country to play for, so he obviously has a strong hold over the lad (which is not necessarily a bad thing for an 18 year old lad).

I would imagine and hope the money is not the only factor in his father's ambitions for the lad, and, finances aside... UTD have done everything possible to help Adnan (including protecting him from the press last night).

As for UTD being a sinking ship, well, it's a £ multi-billion .... I'm sure his father and Adnan himself are clever enough to look past a couple of rocky months and see the bigger picture.

We didn't sign Ronaldo the year before you did because of his wage demands and the potential impact on every younger player wanting higher wages.

Ooops, we got that one a bit wrong.
