I just wanted to get some peoples thoughts on yesterday.
A lot of people on here are blaming certain players for not having a good game etc, but I think it way we set up against their tactics game plan, that made us look bad.
They were playing very very narrow. They saw the team we had and knew that we would play narrow and not wide. They crammed the middle and we obviously could not find a way though. Having Siggy in the left and Townsend on the right meant we had no width. Every time Townsend actaully attacked the outside they looked vulnerable. The cross he put in towards Defoe was not hard to create and should have been a goal.
Siggy on the left cutting in and Naughton doing the same made it very easy to defend against.
This in my opinion made the players look bad. Erikson had no space in the middle as all the players were coming into his space!
I know AVB likes to play his wingers on the opposite side, and this has proved to work in most games, but surely if a team is defending this way, we needed to adapt.
Yesterday's tactics/personnel

It's not rocket science is it? Opposition stifles you in the central areas you attack them down their flanks.
Last week v Chelsea second half midfield gets overrun you try to bolster midfield.
AVB fails to respond to obvious problems at times. Still think he will be good for us in the long run but he has to learn pretty quick or the fans will get on his back.
As for Walker yesterday he obviously wasn't fit enough to have started.

AVB should have seen that West Ham played narrow and stuck Lamela left and Townsend right

Naughton at left back just makes it even more bizzare than Benny is at QPR. He wasn't at his best last season, but even at his laziest he would comfortbaly be better than Naughton and on form far better than Rose.
AVB's really facked up by alienating Ade and Benny. Two important squad members not getting a look in because he doesn't get on with them. Very childish.

I was defending Defoe yesterday saying he didn't have any real chances to score, and then I see on MOTD2 he had that one on one chance which my bas tard stream must have froze during at the time.
He really should have scored that. Back to Soldado again I guess.

Did AVB alienate them or did they alienate themselves by their behaviour?

They have probably been immature, but the manager has to be able to deal with egos. I get the feeling AVB would stick Ronaldo in the reserves because he seems to hate anyone with an ego (the Chelsea squad, BAE and Ade) and unable to manage them

Simple man management...if you have a problem employee give them a warning, if they continue you get rid of them. Why spend all your time on problems created by egotistical players when there are better, easier to manage players out there?
Chelsea was a different kettle of fish, the egos were well established and running the dressing room.

Ade is footballs version of a benefits scrounger. Milks the system for all it's worth. Couldn't be bothered to keep himself fit while his contract was being sorted. Pity as he has got a lot of talent that would be very useful to us. Maybe he will give us a couple of good performances at some stage this season.

Totally agree. Especially with BAE.
Bad attitide or not, he is still the best LB at our club - yet we then make do with 2nd best (Rose) and when he's injured, 3rd or 4th best (Naughton). Its just not the way to run a football team.
There is a fine line between winning and losing, and its those types of decisions that is the fine line.
Cant we get BAE back early? I suppose it depends on what the agreement is.
Come on AVB, stop being so stubborn...
