Nothing to do with football, but has anyone used one of those Android or i-phone Sky at Night apps?
Several around; The Night Sky, Sky Map etc....
I just wondered which was the best to see stars, the planets, the moon, Siggy's penalty etc...
Anyone help?

When I was a kid Patrick Moore stayed a night at our house. My brother remembers him eating NINE cakes...
Was that before or after he played The Saint?

Patrick Moore was described as larger than life and as he got older he certainly became too big for my TV screen. Loved to listen to him, not that I had a clue what he was talking about

You were at the Hastings mod and mocker riots? That's so interesting. Did you do anything? What did you think of the restaurant? I had the steak and chips when I went and it was absolutely fantastic, and how great are the desserts!
Ah, but you're story is absolutely fine Wolfgang because that IS the story...you met Frankie Fraser. If someone said - "I had lunch with Peter Gabriel on Tuesday, how cool is that" then I would show well-deserved interest!

I did spend some time working in the South West last year and drove past Peter Gabriel's recording studio every day. But I never had lunch with him or even saw him. Had some nice desserts down that area though

Now that's the kind of story I like DJ! I'm a big fan of the realist anecdote movement.
"Last weekend I went shopping and bought some work shoes. I didn't want to buy them but my others are developing small holes along the seams at each side. I had an egg sandwich, looked in the Apple shop. Then I went home and had mince and onions and an early night."
These are the kind of wholesome everyday anecdotes that make the world go round. You can enjoy your Peter Gabriel lunches all you like but, for me, a good old fashioned, no-nonsense British anecdote does it every time.

Bute, in what context was that?

It's explained in the link I provided. I was only around 11 years old at the time. The reference to Sky At Night brought it all back, as Patrick Moore was the presenter.
I'm not one to name drop. Otherwise I could have mentioned having dinner in London with Colin Tarrant - Inspector Monroe, from The Bill, (before his sad demise), or even dining at Wembley with Stuart Pearce, (after watching England beat Turkey 8-1).
Thankfully I keep quiet about such things.
