Best exercises for footballers

I've been building up strength for some time now and am noticing the difference on the pitch. However I haven lost a bit of sharpness in terms of foot speed on the ball.

Anyone got any good exercises to regain quick feet?

Just been reading what a Fulham coach said up raised heel, squats (Barbell and dumbbell) and walking lunges.

At the moment I've been doing a mix of Squats, Deadlifts and Lunges, more geared towards strength though.

I would imagine there will be an element of neuromuscular adjustment as you body changes. I would imagine skipping would help as would standing on one leg with your eyes closed. Apparently doing this whilst brushing your teeth is a good way to integrate it. If memory serves that is what Paula Radcliffe does.

Seriously though. Stand on one leg and close your eyes and see just how poised and balanced your body is. After 15 seconds your ankle will be sore.
