It is such a surprise that England were humiliated at home when we had so many 'world class' players like Wilshere and Lampard in the starting line-up.
Back in the real world, Wilshere demonstrated again why he's the most overrated English player in the history of the Premiership.
In fairness, we should now recap what he does well:
- Spitting on taxi drivers.
- Fighting in clubs (against people who can't hit back apparently...)
- Twitter
- Becoming a laughing stock over far-right type comments regarding 'you must be born in this country to play for England' etc. And then getting humiliated by the likes of Kevin Pieterson.
- Partaking in certain other good time activities.
- Smoking.
- And then lying about smoking.
- Football. Nope. He's half the player Carrick is and probably wont even end up surpassing Scott Parker.
For one thing, Scott Parker is not a total
Well done "world class" Jack

Rooney was our best player, Wilshere was the only midfielder creating anything

Lallana was the best player last night.
no one was 'terrible' though. just a smattering of OK, sort of decent and average. You're not going to win with that.

Explain how Johnson was the worst player on the pitch. He didn't make any mistakes, had a normal game.
===
Is that his normal performance level? At least the other 9 outfield players can say they had a poor game

@toor
I usually like your comments but I do not understand your reaction to mine buddy.
Firstly I have no club bias to Kyle Walker or Glen Johnson. I personally believe Nathaniel Clyne is the best English right back albeit lacking in any senior international experience.
Secondly I based my opinion on Glen Johnsons off the ball positioning and his failure to read the game. I lost count the amount of times he was caught out defensively. (Not offensively although he offered little there also)
Thirdly whilst the back five was relatively inexperienced Johnson was the most experienced and that did not come across last night.
No bias, no axe to grind just lambasting a player who deserved it for a bad performance.

if you look at the various ratings of the back 4 in all the usual papers, Johnson was rated the best overall on balance but only just.
Jones got the lowest single rating of a 4, and everyone pretty much in the '5' category in general

Can you give me some details about these times he was caught out defensively? Are you talking about when he was up the pitch and they countered quickly? If so I can't see how it's his fault as an attacking right back, with both players on each side expected to get forward for not being able to teleport back into position as England's players yet again lose the ball and are bypassed in midfield.
Johnson gets a fair lot of criticism from the sheep, the great followers of the press and Talksport listeners but he nearly always performs for England and I remember at least one occasion when he saved the whole defence as a Chilean striker broke through on goal, in the middle of defence and who was there to save the day? Johnson. He made no mistakes and yet is thrown in together with some of the poor performances.
He has always had some people on his back who follow the old bandwagon of him not being able to defend and even after being one of England's best players in the last major competition these sheep were still peddling it.

Towards the end of last season(when Walker was bad but not as bad as this season)
Defensive statistics:-
Glen Johnson narrowly wins on the defensive statistics front. When Glen Johnson has been in the Liverpool team they have kept 11 clean sheets, which is impressive considering the uncertainty over Pepe Reina. Despite only keeping 5 clean sheets whilst representing Tottenham, Kyle Walker gains a point based on goals conceded per game. However this is very slight as it only represents a 0.04 difference which may not be significant.
Walker does win 5% more of his ground 50/50 duels compared to Johnson, although he has a 9% deficit to Johnson when competing for 50/50′s in the air. Johnson is also clearly ahead based on his tackle success registering an impressive 84.38%, 5.95% higher than Walker. Furthermore, Walker seems to have better anticipation with 22 more interceptions than Johnson. Walker is also harder to beat one-on-one with Johnson being beaten 18 times to Walker’s 11 but Glen seems to win possession a lot more (31 times more) than Kyle. Finally, Walker has made 4 defensive errors this season which is poor, compared to Johnson making 1 error. The statistics displayed give Glen Johnson the edge here.
Johnson 5-4 Walker
Passing/Attacking:-
Glen Johnson dominates based on attacking play. The first four statistics are inseparable. Johnson has a marginal win based on open play passing success, but the two cannot be separated based on pass success in the attacking zone, final 3rd and dribbling success. Both scored an impressive 50% for dribbling success, a stat a winger would be pleased with. Walker has double the crossing success of Johnson which is very encouraging.
However, Glen Johnson is frequently used by Liverpool at left back where he will cross on his weaker foot more often, perhaps giving reason for a poor 12% cross completion. Neither teams have tall strikers which may negate both player’s percentages. Despite having half the cross success, Johnson has 4 times the assists of Walker. Whilst Kyle Walker creates more chances it seems Glen creates more clear-cut goal opportunities also note that Glen Johnson is a much more dangerous prospect as he shoots more than Walker and is more accurate (although both accuracies are poor!). Finally, Johnson wins on the goal front with a solitary goal.
Johnson 6-2 Walker
Conclusion: Glen Johnson 11-6 Kyle Walker
Whilst the point per stat system may have some slight flaws, Glen Johnson wins hands down. The Liverpool fullback has proved over the years that he does have the maturity to match his clear ability that has been apparent throughout his career. Kyle Walker is an extremely talented footballer, and no doubt he will go on to cement an England starting place later in his career.
Each have characteristics independent of statistics that will appeal to a manager. Johnson has shown he is equally adaptable at left back over the past 2 years, whilst Walker has shown devastating set piece delivery from corners and free kicks from distance. The debate will no doubt continue, but while the statistics don’t lie, Glen Johnson remains the Right Full Back.
If you did the same for Clyne, he'd be behind both. Clyne is nowhere near Johnson, absolutely nowhere near.
