What a week of sport for England. Losing to all in sundry rugby league, union, football and now cricket. Not a week we want to remember!
I'm a realist and team's can bounce back from defeats but the walloping England took looks very ominous for this series. If England had dug in their 4th innings, made 300 or even made it go to the 5th day then i'd be more optimistic. However, i think the warning signs are there for everyone to see. The batting line-up looks frail and for all the talk, Australian plans are working our batsmen out. Watching the cricket last night you just sensed the collapse was coming. The bowling was ok nothing more, but again you just sensed the heart wasnt there and then the camera's moved to balcony and prior was having a good old giggle with someone. Only an hour or two later he was on his way to make another low score.
Bowling wise i thought we were pedestrian. Noted the bowling speeds and in the main it was Tremlett (79-80mph), Broad (81-82mph) and Anderson similar. Not saying speed is everything, but these were considerably slower than aussie pacers. Match practice, bad tour prep, saker plans...Who knows....
So like i say i think this defeat may have huge implications for this series. The only glimmer of hope is the Adelaide wicket, but with our current frailties im not sure any track can be labelled a road.
Sort it out England and get back to basics. This Australian team really aren't that great.

Mitch is a blow hot blow cold bowler. He will go cold in the next match.
....or eventually...when the series is over.

....or Jimmy will overcome his long running cold by passing it on to Mitch.

...or Broad will send a family member to do a bad chiropractic (massage) job on Clarke's back.

As an Aussie fan I would be delighted if England actually did this.

I think with Prior he is in awfully poor form. Bairstow will score more than what prior scores these days. His keeping aint that bad either.
At some point you have to give it to the aussie bowlers. They have not given easy runs. So the pressure ought to get to them

i think you guys have made some valid points in regards to changes. Such a massive defeat needs fresh faces. If the track is as flat as they are talking about for the next test then may be leave trott in for now. Fails again then its time to rest him. The other two changes Bairstow and Finn would be a gamble worth making in my eyes. The side seems to have gone of the boil and become stale.
But lets face it Bairstow has technical deficiencies against the short pitch so who knows...May be try Stokes instead of Bairstow.
Duncan(aussie fan). I guess your a lot more confidant after this showing.

England won 3 consecutive Ashes series and prior to this test had 8-2 lead in 15 tests. Please don't suggest a major reshuffle of the team. We don't want to replace a solid performer like Trott after just a few failures.
If players deserve to be dropped after a few failures, why keep Anderson and Swann?

Trott has gone home. "A long-standing stress related condition". Trescothick mark II.
