Well, the time has come. What is it going to be?
I am going for a cautious 1-1. Villa will struggle, and I think Fulham (I hope) will not have a lot of goals in them.
What is your prediction?

I'd take a draw. We're not exactly the greatest team on paper, and they're a handful at home.

I'll stick my neck out and go for a win. I think that's what we should be aiming at. Fulham are a sound but limited side, and there's the new manager issue, even though Jol's good. Hughes struggled there in the early part of last season, and the fact that Zamora was injured was only part of it (he's injured now but will play.
We've lost a couple of key players, but still have loads of ability and our two new signings are class. If McLeish can get the defence remaining solid while keeping an effective attack I still think we're the stronger side.
I think we're playing Bent, Agbonlahor AND Heskey up front. That I didn't expect.
Bottom line is I'm more concerned about how well the team plays. An honourable draw is fine. A defeat will be a definite disappointment. We've got to show that as well as a solid defence we've got real effective attacking bite.

Well, that was really interesting. Just what does Heskey do in training to get picked; like Eck's ringpiece? Why is Petrov on the pitch, when Delph is meant to do that job? Where is this revitalised creative force that is Ireland? One shot on target! If this is how it's gonna go, Eck OUT!

So, I was wrong. Goalless draw, and no sign of any attacking bite. Not promising. The Blackburn game could define our season.

Not an easy team to play; they always give a good account of themselves at ours with their counter-attacking set-up. But if we don't put the personnel on the pitch to make an impact (Albrighton and Ireland from the off, Peskey off the pitch) then I fear the worst.
