AVB v Harry

After our weekends defeat, and the indifferent midweek result there has been a lot of talk about maybe handing AVB his cards – if we take off our rose tinted glasses, and look at it in the cold light of day, could we be cutting off our noses to spite our faces? We all know Rome wasn’t built in a day, and it will be an uphill struggle before the team gels, could Harry have done better? Is it a case of better the devil we know? The debate over AVB’s future will rage on If we lose to Utd – but let’s compare the two managers using cold hard facts ant not letting our hearts rule our heads, or making a knee-jerk reaction to what could have been a one off result.
Ok its time to stop getting as many Clichés as I can into one paragraph (11) and do the comparison.

Ive whittled it down to 5 key areas to compare the two Tottenham bosses:

Tactical Nous
AVB is considered a true scholar of the game, young and dynamic; he is the modern manager and has mastered many tactical disciplines, such as mass squad rotation, the high line and inverted wingers, all which have worked with great success. You would think this was a clear victory for the Portuguese maestro, but let’s not forget Harry also knew his way around the tactical handbook, it was him who created the world’s most expensive player, moving Bale forward onto the wing was a tactical masterpiece that only a genius would envisage, as was playing 4-4-2 at home, a tactic that has as yet eluded AVB, Harry was also a master at bringing defensive midfielders on for an attacking player when we needed a goal – so with this in mind it’s a shocking win for Harry

Man Management
Harry Redknapp was more than a boss to the players at Spurs, he was a confidant and a friend, ask any young player at Spurs and they will speak highly of him, (as long as you don’t ask Dos Santos and a few others) He is a family man, and liked good family men like Scott Parker, He also showed great sensitively to Darren Bent when he explained how Sheila could have scored one of his rare misses - Andre didn’t do well at Chelsea on this one, he alienated the players right from the start. But on the other hand, we all saw the reaction of the players when we beat West Ham last season, surrounding him and hugging him in a show of true affection and he has now gone a whole season without losing the dressing room, you might think the Chelsea debacle would score AVB poorly in this round, and you would be right, as Harry wins again

Media Friendliness
Andre Villas Boas has a love hate relationship with the media, he seldom answers a direct question and would rather tell them what he wants with his own agenda. When pressed he answers with riddles or with generic statements. He also plays his cards very close, revealing little or no information that isn’t already in the public domain. His gravel voice and heavy accent make him hard to understand. Harry on the other hand is a master with the media, they love him, they hang on his every word, even tax evasion wasn’t enough to get him in their bad books. If there are any secrets at the club, the press can rely on Harry to reveal them from his car window, the press love him that much they even gave him the England job. So this is a win for Harry, although he has been marked down as he couldn’t even hold his own water, let alone a secret.

Wobble Chopness
You would think this was an easy win for Harry; His chops are more wobbly than a raspberry jelly, in fact his chops are so wobbly that droopey dog gets jealous, Harry has 3 gold medals and 2 silvers in the world wobblechop cup. AVB on the other hand has tight non-wobbly chops, or so we are lead to believe, but why the stubble? If anyone had a ginger beard they would surely shave it, unless of course they had something to hide, maybe that ginger fluff is a mere distraction, and hiding beneath are chops of great wobbliness. Bearing this in mind I think Harry has some serious competition.

Abiltiy to lose to Man City
Harry got humbled on the first day of the season against Manchester’s big spending citizens, going down 5-1, but it was the first day of the season and although not exactly a freak result, he lost trying to win, in fact he lost in the quest for glory, which is amiable at least. By contrast AVBs team was totally owned by the Manchester Blues. Losing an embarrassing 6-0 at the Etihad, to rub salt into the wounds Spurs weren’t even trying to win, they were just trying not to lose! – Which means AVB wins this round by an emphatic margin

So there you have it: Actual objective proof backed up with empirical facts.
To summerise:
Harry is a good manager and scoring a massive 35/50 means we should repect him, but clearly facts don’t lie and AVB’s 36/50 prove he is, undoubtably, the man for the job.

what says you?

Enough with the AVB bashing already...

We've all had our say; we are all not satisfied. Why are we still beating the dead horse??

He's still our manager for now, so we need to get behind him and the team till things are decided one way or the other

Yeah sizzle, as much a I liked Harry, I would never want him back because of that - I dont blame him for wanting the England job, or if he left to take it, it was his indifference to us when he thought he had it

WRONG.

We had already lost 3-0 at old Trafford prior to getting spanked at home by man city in 2011.
