END OF WENGER ERA

Departure of Fabregas and probably Nasri will/should end Wenger's tenure at Arsenal.

Wenger had in past a good eye and pulling power, but after six trophyless seasons plus the departure of our best players without adequate replacements needs closure.

We need at least 4-6 points from Newcastle,Liverpool and Man Utd plus Champions League Qualification against Udinese.

If we fail then it would be best for Wenger to go without spending the transfer budget and allow a new broom to spend the money.

The media BS rumour is that Arsenal have offered a swap of Nasri for Tevez. Didnt read the full details but I'd take that.

that metaphor kind of tailed off there... but overall i agree with you.

there are a number of issues with wenger at the moment. there are always going to be some fans who stand by him and defend him no matter what he does. then there are some fans who find themselves nursing a great dislike of his cliches and his almost staggering capacity for idealism.

the thing is that the first group seems to be diminishing, and the second growing. even as recently as three years ago he seemed to have a guaranteed legacy at the club, but that now looks in danger. an ever-growing number of arsenal fans now see him as a has-been opportunist who is outstaying his welcome.

his remark yesterday was very telling - he said 'I don't listen to what people say.' and really, that is proved by his actions. it seems he so resents the idea that somebody should disagree with him, that somebody else should know better, that he goes in the completely opposite direction of the general consensus. he's the classic contrarian - he insists his squad is too big when everybody else thinks it's threadbare. he thinks we have enough centre-backs when everybody sees the need for another. he tells anybody who will listen that his team have mental strength, despite the frequent collapses.

but the problem is that he is en route to destroy not only his own legacy, but arsenal's position in the footballing world. people will claim that he provided that - but is that really a relevant argument? just because he gave us something, does that mean he should be allowed to just take it away again, without contradiction?

being honest the 4-6 points to thread starter stated would be ideal, i dont think we are capable of that. I think it will be 3 losses, plus getting knocked out of UCL qualifers. Our home record in europe is resonable but the away record is embarssing for a club of our size.
