During a rather long lunch in London yesterday with 220 other people I was constantly asked by the football fans amongst them about McLaren and the impact on our club.
This got me thinking on the train home. Derby's recent meteoric rise and improvement must have come to the attention of chairman of premier league clubs, especially the ones in the lower half of that division.
Is there a possibility that McLaren could be tempted away next month, if either/or one of the Premier League Clubs comes a calling or the funds for the January sales are not forthcoming.

Always a possibility ZZH, but Derby have a lot more going for them than a lot of the Prem clubs, plus McClaren has Derby history.
Personally I don't think he'll be going anywhere soon, (I hope Man Utd don't come knocking again though).

I don't think he will be tempted away but if players are sold and money not reinvested then he will be off.

Blimey Zigger, talk about a pessimist.
The main impact he has had on the club is that he has brought in a quality defender. I expect he has spent time coaching how to defend set pieces but I don't know. All I know is that I don't have that sinking feeling in stomach every time the opposition gain possession. These were the two obvious weaknesses in our side before he arrived.
If someone came knocking we would expect a lot of compensation. We would still have the players so we would still be in reasonable position. Managers despite what some fans believe do not work miracles.

I was quite surprised how Derby’s rise had been noted by my colleagues from around the UK and how McLaren, despite his wally tag, is well thought of.
We all know about the jerks with the knees that run football clubs, plus the monetary pressure they are under to keep their clubs to stay in the Prem.
Do you think the chairman of Stoke, Norwich and West Ham wonder if McLaren is both better than the current incumbent managers and that he could make an immediate improvement in results.

I very much doubt, given the tendency for short tenures that his recent managerial career demonstrates, that he'd walk away unless it was a Man United or similar, and the chances of that are as likely as United coming in for a group discount, also wanting to buy Conor and Connor too.
No harm to him at all but he's achieved nothing at Derby yet and was a short-term coach at QPR when Sam Rush discovered him and put him back where he belongs. He's our head coach, and will be for the forseeable

There is no chance he will move anytime soon. He has embarked on his best ever chance of managerial success. He's inherited a brilliant squad at a great stadium and has already improved on a good league position. He must see, even he says he doesn't look, that he has an excellent chance of promotion. Why would he want to risk such a position. He's been once to MU so I don't think he will be retracing his steps to be David Moyes's assistant.

He's with us for the long term. He's a great fit, and he will see his greatest success in management with this club.
