Wigan 52- Salford 18

Ben Cross taken to hospital with a broken arm.
Lee Mossop put on report.
Sam Tomkins 3 first half trys.
It was announced at half time that there would be a major announcment at the Crusaders game.
Wether this is to announce the new coach,or an answer to the advertisement placed a few weeks ago for an assistant coach.
It as been flying around for a few weeks that the assistant would be Istyn Harris ,maybe the announcment being made at the Crusaders game adds weight to this.

Sam Tomkins scored the last try as well,4 in all.

Is it to early to start a thread on who will be M.O.S.

theo, our flying winger Nathan Merritt got moved to the fullback position 2 weeks and scored 5 tries against Parra and 3 against Canberra...most of them from finding himself in the right position at the right time.......do you think they will move him back to the wing.......LOL

Souths.

It seems to be the thing to do these days, get a player with speed and is elusive and move him to fullback.

Sam Tomkins has played 85 first grade games and scored 71 trys.

His last try against Salford on Sunday was freakish,he received the ball at approx left centre,he then moved towards the left wing posistion were he found himself hemmed in.
Then it all went crazy,he doubled back and then ran across field threatening to cut inside all the time to the line. He left 9 Salford players clutching at straws before crashing over by the right corner flag.
As Madge said "a little bit special"

theo.....10 years ago Darren Lockyer was classed as the best fullback in the world at the time and he made the move to the No.6 and made that position his own..........10 years later and Parramatta tried the same thing with Hayne and it is a flop. Goes to show you have to be a very special player to be able to make a success in various positions.
Our NSW selectors have continually selected good centres for the wing position and now more then ever before it has proven to be a specialist position....cheers
