Fantasy season and Evaluation

Hello all,

*I would like to start off by saying I was Phoenix*

I would like to congratulate Mick Vick for his win in the super bowl. Drew Brees is a team on his own most of the time.

I had disappeared from the site in general over the last few months due to work picking up and family health problems and as result never saw the whole discussion going on here every week (kind of gutted now).

I expected the falcons would be involved in many shoot outs and would have to air it out so placed a heavy emphasis on draft day on them with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez.
Losing Jones early in the season cost me not just my #1 WR but also, essentially (with no Roddy White yet), my QB.
I picked up Rivers off waivers as well as Jay Cutler, but then stupidly dropped both when Roddy White returned hoping Ryan would do something, and never saw either again.
I then rode the McCown bandwagon for a few weeks.

Riley Cooper and Nick Foles went very quickly after their breakout as well so I had to play match ups all season with both my WR since I prioritised RB in the draft with Jamaal Charles and DeMarco Murray (who in fairness carried me pretty much all season) along with the Chiefs defense (who I dropped after week 1 and picked up again off waivers before week 3).

I took a gamble with ARod after he was dropped following his injury hoping he would be closer to the 4 week timeline rather than the 7 week which would mean I would have him in time for the last game of the regular season.

I managed to scraped through with Mike Glennon, Josh McCown and Kirk Cousins (semi final and super bowl game 1) but his disappointing game vs the poor Cowboys def in week 1 (22 points when matt ryan had 38 and dalton, who I was about to add had 50) of Superbowl cost me big time as did my daft decision to not start Knile Davis and Jonathan Grimes ahead of LaFell and Tolbert costing me 30+ points between them.

All in all, for my first season in nfl fantasy I enjoyed it, and did a lot better than I was expecting to.

I think its fair to say the best team on the season won (1547 points on the season). So returning to my second line: Congrats, enjoy it, I will be back next season.

Speaking of, are we in for a repeat next season?
if yes, is it a keeper league, or complete redraft?

im in.
this was my first year in fantasy land (premier league, nfl, nba, and euroleague-european bball)

i find football fantasy (soccer) very boring. ive abandoned my teams on ja premier league fantasy.

Both my nfl teams lost in the super bowl to drew brees led teams.

My nba fantasy team is amazing. Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Demarcus Cousins, James Harden, MCW and Lance stephenson.
trying to trade a big for a good pg/sg now but currently top.

I should add, I love stats. I dont understand NFL, and had never watched a match other than the giants super bowl 3 seasons ago, and didnt get anything.
I just looked at numbers and correlations and used the 'RESEARCH' tab a lot on nfl.com

ok, wait, reading my comment, it came across wrong.

Before august, i had only ever watched the giants superbowl, because my mate dragged into watching it on bbc.

after joining the fantasy league, i went onto vipbox.tv on sunday evening at 8 in the evening (i live in greece) and watched the redzone)

My brain process:

week 1:
how cant he catch that
what is holding, why is it a foul

week 2:
why dont you just throw the ball, stop giving it to him to run nowhere (yes, trent richardson)

week 3:
aha, play action means he pretends to run but throws it

week 4:
why cant he stop the receiver from getting the ball, tackle him, wait- he cant tackle him until he has the ball. whats the point in that?!?!
AND I SHOULD HAVE GOT DREW BREES

week 5:
im starting to get the hang of this

etc etc

i feel quite comfortable now. admittedly, not 100% but i feel now that i understand it more, i might fair better in the draft.

i liked the packers this year.

something about them being the only nfl team not owned by a billionaire i believe.

although, philly were very exciting to watch this season.

Mick on winning!!

Hello stonfacd - sorry to hear about your personal issues, hope all is well.

This year has been great, mainly with the participations and redzone live threads (Thanks Mick).

This year was purely about filling in the slots as where next year it will be open to those who WANT to join and play.

I will be starting a Fantasy Draft thread nearer the start of next season and we can all discuss how we want the league setup.

Once done we will simply open it up to members of this forum.

Also come on Spartans in the BCS !!
